(3,373 posts)I do not remember reading about the discovery when it was first reported. It is indeed interesting that there are multiple theories as to how the massive object, at a distance of almost 5 billion light years from earth, originated. One theory is that it is a supernova. From reading about supernovae years ago, I learned that, in recorded history, a few of them have shown their presence to the unaided eyes of earth observers. In our age of powerful telescopes, we are privileged with seeing displays of these types of cosmic wonders.
