Seekers on Unique Paths
Related: About this forumIs anyone here interested in discussing Extra Sensory Perception and/or the Paranormal?
I've experienced it a few times....Yeah, before my own experiences, I thought those claiming it were a). Lying
or b). Nuts. Then I experienced them myself, spontaneously, with no purposeful "seeking" of it at all.
I saw a specter as a 7 year old child and have had some incidents of mental telepathy in later life.

(5,453 posts)You might try the Astrology, Spirituality & Alternative Healing Group instead.
It is the most active of the more shall we say esoteric groups.
Have you read any of Dean Radin's books on these subjects? He has researched
them thoroughly from a scientific perspective. His writing is a well-grounded
place to clarify and understand these subjects as well as their implications to
our species and our planet.

(29,802 posts)I'll take your suggestion and try that group.
No, I haven't read any of Mr. Radin's books, but you've definitely sparked my interest.
Thanks for your input.

(29,414 posts)I like things such as remote viewing and out of body experiences, and can at least talk about esp to some extent. You may need to get detailed as to what you'd like to discuss beyond simply "esp"

(29,802 posts)My experiences have been:
A. Seeing a spectre as a 7 year old -- not afraid, it was just "there".
B. Several surprising, and unsought instances of mental telepathy.

(4,234 posts)Since this seems to be a pretty low-interest subject I would imagine that you (whathehell) may have moved on to something else by now. But I'd be interested in exchanging some ideas.
It sounds like you are interested in the actual experience of the paranormal, since you've experienced some quite unusual things a few times in your life. I haven't experienced anything quite like what you have but I've done a lot of study and application in the area of dreams and thru dreams I've had a whole lot of extrasensory or paranormal experiences.
Early on, as I studied dreams, both the scientific studies of dreams and my own personal dreams, I discovered that the so-called paranormal types of dreams are really just natural events and experienced by everybody. I am also quite interested in Edgar Cayce, his readings and the writing and work of those people influenced by him.
Anyway, if you or anybody who has posted here see this and want to exchange a few posts, I'd be glad to take part.

(22,997 posts)I have had some really strange, (sometimes scary) things happen in my life. The truth is I do not feel comfortable laying them out on a forum.
I can tell you something though. These people "speaking in tongues" - I think most of them are just full of it and make up words that make no sense and say them in front of the church so everyone can see them. But years ago I was so severely sick from anxiety, panics, obsessive thoughts and more and I ended up in a rehab for valium withdrawl when I really should have been in a hospital and been treated for my mental illness. Anyway, I stayed sick for several more months than I had to and after the rehab I went to the Christian prayer circle with my friend who thought it would be good for me, ( So anyway, I was sitting in the back, trying hard not to hear what what was going on around me and all of a sudden I heard my mouth talking. And it was something I did not understand. And as soon as I was aware of it I shut my mouth so it wouldn't happen again. So I guess this idea of "talking in tongues",(without all the faking) can really happen. I see no reason why it has to be a Christian thing. I am not a Christian but I try to be a Buddhist. And may I just point out that when this happened I was NOT psychotic or delusional. Maybe it is some spiritual thing. I don't know because I didn't stay around to find out!
Also I will tell you that I have studied the I Ching for many many years and I usually get good readings and am able to figure things out.
If you want to ask me a question just PM me or if you want to know some of the things that happened PM me too.

(29,802 posts)Speaking in tongues certainly is an interesting phenomenon,
but you're the first person I've ever heard speaking about it..Have you explored
any non-religious explanations for it?

(22,997 posts)from Haiti. They did studies and the sounds that come out of the mouth are sounds that the person is familiar with. In other words It is not like monkey sounds come out of a human. And I suppose Asians would speak with their Asian accent.
I know that if it was me I was unconscious of it. Until my ears heard it.

I'm just interested in the experiences of others -- Have you experienced anything that could be called Extra Sensory Perception?...I have, and I'd like to discuss them, but tell me about your first, if you would.
