Religion-related hate crime against Jews at highest level since records began...

Jews are now the victims of more than one in five hate crimes related to religion – the highest percentage ever recorded.

The shocking Home Office statistics continue a disturbing rise over the past few years.

The latest data reveals that there were 1,288 offences against Jewish people in which their perceived religion was recorded as relevant to the case in England and Wales.

The figures amount to 22 per cent of the total for the 12 months up to March this year, making Jews the second largest group.

The findings come after members of the community have been the targets of a series of shocking attacks over the past few months.

In the US, despite being 2.6% of the population, Jews make up about 56% of all hate crimes in the religion category, and are #3 overall in all hate crimes. What always fascinates me are the places with almost none or no Jews at all, and still anti-Semitic crimes are higher than against other groups which actually have a population in the country!

the police more than some other minority groups. There are a lot of stories in the news about Black people or their pets being killed by police when they the police for help. A lot of People of Color have to weigh their own safety vs getting justice for being the victim of hate crimes. There are a lot of racist police officers out there.

Many might feel "what's the point?" given how often when anti-Semitism is mentioned people take it as a signal to "pivot" to the oppression of another group. So, really, what's the point? Hate crimes, in general, are underreported. Some states, still don't report hate crimes or hate crimes against specific groups, especially the LGBT, but the point is, even with the ones who DO report, we, a minority of 2.6% still make up the THIRD largest group being attacked. More reports by African-Americans wouldn't change that fact! BTW, there are a lot of anti-Semitic cops out there too!
