(43,049 posts)it's the big Quaker site, but not the only one. It gives you most of the history and background of Friends and the three current versions.
I'm FGC, personally, and of the silent meeting persuasion. I don't find hymns, sermons, or ritual to affect me positively, but I would never stop anyone who thinks they do.
Peace is the thing most people talk about, but although that's important, it comes from other, more fundamental leadings and witnessing. Core honesty and integrity is fundamental. Constant questioning of yourself and your actions and your feelings. Everything is a test of some sort.
Being a Quaker is not easy, and I admit I fail at a lot of it, but it is, well, a noble undertaking.
On edit-- How could I forgot to close with "The Light be with you in your journey".
You will find out much about the Light. You won't see flashes of it, and it is largely psychological/mystical, but once you get it it will be very real to you.
