Is there any difference between Nelson Mandela and Jesus Christ?

Is Nelson Mandela a Christ in our times?

It would seem he lived his life as Jesus did. Had the same impact. Gave the same message.

Short of giving his life, and being proclaimed the son of God, I would contend Mandela is a person on the same plane as Jesus, as well as Gandhi, Buddha, MLK, Jr. - holy messengers, all.

saying he had faults. He made very human mistakes throughout his life. It is a very adult way to be: to want to be known, warts and all, when everybody wants you to be a saint on earth. In the 20th century our greatest leaders‘ faults were hidden and only discussed by historians. Mandela wanted to be known as fully human. He is the most modern of heroes. Brave like Jesus too for sure. But real enough that all of us can strive to be like him.
