(20,546 posts)I was 'presented' in an Orthodox 'temple' at 40 days new.
Of my own volition, I never veered from Orthodoxy.
But no, I didn't live an altogether 'Godly' representation at times.
After the gift of Salvation, we are afforded the Mystery of Repentance.
Our 'rites' are considered 'mysteries'. As in communion which is the Eucharistic Mystery.
Eastern Orthodoxy was 'instituted' 33 A.D. and has not 'changed' with the times to make it more 'appealing'.
When Orthodox sing any service, "they pray twice". 😊 With the words being sung, they are all scriptural. So singing them and praying them at once.
You always touch my heart with your kindness.💜

(5,196 posts)I have heard RC nuns say "singing" is praying twice", though without the beautiful explanation you offer.
I'm sure your faith is offering a peace at this most difficult time in your life, though likely you have to reach deep within at times.
One day at a time - may peace and healing come to you.

(20,546 posts)There is and will be meaning in this difficult tribulation come upon me.
Holy Scripture blesses with an assurance of "the peace that passeth understanding". I look to attain that which the natural mind cannot fathom.
His choicest blessings be yours during this most joyous time.
Christ is Risen!
Indeed He is Risen!
