FYI "Real Face of Jesus?" on History Channel right now
this is the show I was talking about in kentauros' thread about "watching asah." It's an interesting show & it would be nice to be able to talk about it & the findings without close-minded spoilsports demanding everyone see things their way.
To me, the Shroud is fascinating because if it WAS created in the Middle Ages, as some findings suggest, how the heck did they do it? And if it is what it is purported to be, how the heck did they do it?

(4,225 posts)I'm not sure what to think of the reason they put forward on the carbon dating that puts the shroud at 700 years old ......Not sure that the shroud being handled at the four corners down over the centuries would change the aging of the fabric.????? Are they saying that the human tissue from the handlers left behind on the shroud was what got dated and not the fabric?????
I really hope they didn't crucify another person to create a holy relic 700 years ago.....And if they did how did they find a volunteer?? (Shiver)
The study of how the light/energy would have to have waved over the shroud in layers to make the image was Kick ass!!!!!
And I swear when they revealed the face "Of Christ" and he opened his eyes I got Chills1!!!
That was extremely interesting I ended up watching it twice last night!!!
And the metaphysical talk about 3d,the Gnostic's,And the image on the shroud being a program and a parable/metaphor ROCKED!!!!!!!
Thank you WolverineDg for the heads up! That was a profoundly interesting way to end The friday before Easter!!!!

(22,298 posts)That the fabric originally tested was from the edges, but was fabric that replaced portions of the shroud that had deteriorated due to handling, etc. There have never been tests of the fabric containing the image or even close to the image. (obvoiusly because they'd have to destroy it). Texas A&M has come up with a less destructive method & I think they're paving the way to get the shroud tested again, with a sample from these areas.
It does boggle the mind, doesn't it, to think that they may have crucified another person in the middle ages to produce this shroud. And yet, no one's figured out conclusively how they did it!!!

(4,225 posts)I hope the shroud is the real mcCoy.I want to believe that the Man they call Jesus really did know what he was about . It would make it much less painful to remember him as the great teacher he was then the way he died. Though I often wonder exactly how much of the original teachings of Jesus are written into the bible. If I had to take a guess.......not much. I'll bet the Gnostic's were alot closer And they were tortured too.
The Way the energy had to go to leave that imprint is SOOOOOOOOOO intriguing!!!!!! Also connecting to the hidden heaven that is all around us!
Whether you believe in the Christ or not when they revealed his face it was A very big JOLT!!! Well worth watching the program for..

(22,298 posts)the first time I saw it.
Perhaps Man has distorted & layered over His teachings as time has past to suit political purposes (not allowing divorce, etc), but the core teachings are still there, Universal Truths that can be found in any faith--Do unto others, judge not, love one another, etc.

(4,225 posts)The thought that the Gnostic's were contemplating about a hidden heaven on earth right now right here was FABULOUS!!!!!
