Has anyone ever heard of a household spirit called a Domovoi?

They are a type pf of Slavic Fae. My husband is Czech and early last year I became aware of ours , (actually everyone who visits that house for any period of time could. LOL!).
Anyway, usually they're "inherited" from generationally. I started doing a little asking around regarding Domovoi because I thought that they were connected through Slavic bloodlines. (My bloodline tends to lean toward the Native, Southern European, Arab and African).
Anyway, the reason I ask is because our Domovoi seems to have become quite fond and protective of me in particular. When I was in hospital , at one point, I was in so much pain from the surgeries I'd undergone that I literally couldn't think. That night, GOD AS MY WITNESS, I woke up from a very disturbed and horribly difficult sleep because I heard what I thought was sobbing and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. As crazy as this might sound, I turned my head to the right and right there, leaning on the rails of my bed was, "Sergei". He's told me that I couldn't pronounce his true name and that I could call him that. His head was tilted down so that I couldn't only see his hair, which is VERY coarse and an odd combination of mousey grey and brown. Now, I had been in so much pain that I literally could no longer cry. NO amount of meds stopped it. I slowly became aware of the fact that he was , for want of a better term, ''rubbing" my belly, which had been filleted.
One would think that it would be excrutiatingly painful but far from it. For the first time in about 30 hours, I was feeling as close to comfortable as possible. He was running his hands over my tummy so fast that not only should it have been horribly painful, it should have been hot as hell because they were moving so fast that they were blurs. While he was "rubbing" my tummy, he was crying, sobbing actually. I reached over and patted his head, which felt like just this side of a hedgehog's coat. He never let me seem him full on and although I kept asking his to let me see his face.
Now, before you think, "Erm, Ecu was dreaming or maybe the painkiller was making her see thangs that weren't there"- People heard me talking to someone and could hear but not understand they other side of the conversation. AND....I NEVER had that pain again. I got out of ICU the next morning and rapidly improved after that.

Has anyone else ever heard of Domovoi? Or does anyone else have a household friend, Fae or otherwise? And before you ask, I'm 1000% serious.

...but i am sure there are many traditions that have 'family' guides/guardians it may be fun to research, for sure.

but once, years ago, I was unable to sleep and sobbing with grief over something. I felt a giant, giant hand stroke down my entire body and a voice say, 'please try to get some sleep.' I felt instant relief, like a baby being comforted, and fell immediately into a deep sleep.

I am slavic on my father's side. I now want to research this....

Have not heard of this. I have guides wandering about and I have seen the spirit folks that accompany a few others, but nothing that matched your description.

His hair seemed to follow his neck, (if he has one) and goes down his back. The only part of him that I saw that wasn't hirsute was his ginormous hands and his forearms. The thing is that they are supposed to be repelled by mirrors and crucifixes. Not because they're evil but because they are cursed by God to serve human beings due to them being neutral during the War in Heaven. Funnily enough, it was Sergei who literally returned my husband's crucifix that he's had for over 40 years. He and I, (as much as I could), l tore the house apart looking for it when I got home from the hospital on February 16th of this year. This included going through the pockets of all the coats in the coat closet, AT LEAST 3 TIMES over the course of about 10 days.

Baby was heartbroken because this was the crucifix he had laid across my body as they wheeled me out of surgery to ICU. I remembered him picking it up when we were packing up my things to leave hospital. He just assumed that somehow he'd dropped it along the way home, whether it was the actual hospital or during the ride home or stops along the way.

After looking for it for that 10 days, I asked Sergei if he knew where it could be. He told me to look in my coat pocket that was hanging up in the closet. I thought that this was odd because I hadn't worn that coat since before I went to hospital. I didn't question to much and went to the closet, (we'd already torn this closet apart 3 times), pulled out the coat and put my hand into first the right pocket and then, the left. Lo and Behold, there was the crucifix was in the left coat pocket of a coat I hadn't worn in almost 2 months. Somehow, that sweet little man had found and placed something that, according to those in the know about these Fae, literally would harm him, in the pocket of something it should have never been found in. Looks like he's happy, as they find things and help the inhabitants of the house when content.

Baby was thrilled and bought Sergei a pastry as a thank you gift. We get him pastries regularly to show him our appreciation. He's since helped us in numerous ways and I always include him in my prayers. while this may sound strange, I always ask God to release him from his servitude and welcome him back to the celestial realm where he belongs. They're supposed to serve famiiles for 800 to 1000 years to earn the right to return to their true home.

they probably don't hang out in his lineage, but I told him he should be nicer to me or I might sic the domovoi on him... Then I told him your story. Thanks for the elaboration.

Spent their entire lives here and then their daughter also did before she passed. I had to make friends with the spirits who lived here before I got the house in 1998.

Lots of energies swirling around this place to visit with.

Thank you for sharing that, Ecumenist! I have never heard of a Domovoi or even of a household friend/family protector. But I sure like that more than the mischievous critters like pwkas! Please share more of your experiences with Sergei in the future--would love to hear them!

When my brother crossed over, I was in such pain -- emotional and physical -- that one night I was sobbing so hard I couldn't catch my breath. I screamed out "please help me!" and felt 2 arms wrap themselves around me and hold me, rocking me like I was a small child. The comfort was immediate. Never figured that out, but I was so grateful for the peace.

Celebrity Ghost Stories.The woman is Karina Smirnoff and I'm sure she's a celebrity who dances. She used the exact term Demovoi encountered at sleeping over at a friend's house in Russia or the Ukraine.

but have a book here that has an entry on them. While you and your husband seem to know best about how to treat him and such, here's what's in the book "Encyclopedia of Spirits" by Judika Illes:

Domovoi

Origin: Russia

The Domovoi is a Russian house spirit. His primary function is to protect the family, property, and animals associated with the home where he resides. He protects the family living in his home and warns them of impending disaster. (If a family member is awakened in the middle of the night by a cold, hard, furry hand, disaster looms.) The Domovoi is sometimes a harbinger of death: if the Domovoi dons the clothing of the head of the household or is witnessed imitating this person, his or her death is imminent. The Domovoi is most frequently witnessed at night.

The Domovoi may be an ancestral spirit. Address him respectfully as "Sir," "Master," "Uncle," or "Grandpa." The Domovoi may live in the big traditional Russian stove or in liminal areas: the cellar, attic, or over the home's main entry threshold. It's traditional to leave offerings in areas of the home he's known to frequent.

The Domovoi may be attached to the house, but some Domovoi become quite attached to people. If you move, it's crucial to formally notify the Domovoi of the move and request that he accompany his family to their new home. The Domovoi should also be formally introduced to any new horses living with or belonging to the family. Request his care and protection for the horse. Otherwise, if this is not done, the Domovoi may play tricks: tangling the horse's mane, for instance, stealing the horse's food, or moving its tack and grooming supplies so that you must search for them. He can also ride a horse to exhaustion at night. Once upon a time, Russians purchased horses in the color that their Domovoi preferred. The Domovoi grooms his favorites, braiding their manes and tails.

Manifestations:
The Domovoi is usually heard, not seen. He likes to be invisible. His presence is revealed only by rustling noises. When visible, the Domovoi resembles a tiny old man with grey, tangled, locked hair and a bushy beard. He may be entirely covered in soft, downy fur, including his palms and soles. However, the Domovoi is a shape-shifter and may also manifest as a dog, cat, frog, rat, mouse, or other animal.

Animal: Horse

Offerings: Kasha, bread, old-fashioned bast sandals (hang them up in the yard; he'll find them)

seems to have really become attached to me. He really seems to love me and when I was in hospital, he was sobbing loudly enough that there were people who asked me who was there. How would I have explained that? "Oh, well, you see last night, my housespirit, Sergei came to visit and was crying because I was sick." I was already ill and in the hospital. I would have found myself on the wrong side of the mental health unit, quick and in a hurry.
