Need some advice/insight on meditation, answer seeking

For background I'm a 44 year old female, not overweight but not exactly in shape, I do have a caffeine and nicotine addiction. On Thursday I went to the ER by ambulance with symptoms that I thought were a heart attack. I was driving and suddenly my heart started to race, I felt like I was doing to pass out, felt tightness in my chest, felt sweaty and it was hard to breath. I managed to drive home and called 911. By the time I got to the ER I was stabilized but still had a very fast heart rate. They kept me overnight for observation. All tests came back normal (lots of bloodwork, a CAT scan of my chest, echocardiogram, respiratory analysis). They said it was heart palpitations undetermined cause and made me an appointment to see a cardiologist in a week. Just so you know I AM PLANNING on following up with medical care and following medical advice with this. My problem is...I just sobbed my eyes out all night while sitting in that hospital room...wondering what does this mean, why is this happening, oh my god I've been wasting my life etc. My obvious thing is I'm going to cut out the coffee and cigs but I can't help but feel there is a deeper meaning than just physical. When I try to think about what that might be I get overwhelmed. So does anyone know of a good meditation, thought clearing exercise, getting in touch with my spirit guides type of exercise to help me. As I said, not looking for medical diagnosis just some tips, insight on what this might mean on a spiritual level....

Mine started in my late 30's. Try Black Cohosh along with Meditation has well has what the Doctors say to do. But if your diognosis goes like mine has they won't have,do or say anything.

It seems to be menapausal.(Which they also don't say.) I came to that conclusion by talking to other women my age.

I thought it could be perimenopause too. So far I haven't had any symptoms of menopause (still getting my monthly visitor every 28 days like clockwork) but I'm "at the age". They didn't mention that possibility at the hospital... As far as it being an anxiety attack, it's hard to say, it was just normal day for me, I wasn't really stressing out about anything in particular. That's not to say I'm not in complete denial and stressed out subconsciously about something...

It seemed to be the first stages of going into Menapause for me and alot of women I've talked to. I didnt start having the Hot flashes and other fun stuff till the last couple of years.You don't have to be stressing or worried to go into a panic attack hell I have even woke up in the middle of the night having one . I'm pretty sure Its Hormonal. ( though the doctors won't say. I have found doctors to be pretty useless regarding this particular symptom)
I have gone into them sitting watching T.V.,reading,ect. There is no warning or stress involved.

Very similar experience: heart palpitations, racing heart, difficulty breathing. I was a little younger than you at the time (just turned 40), and I didn't smoke, but otherwise your description of yourself sounds a lot like me. Ambulance to the ER, insane number of tests performed, all the tests were normal, but they put me on a medication to slow down my heart rate and regulate the rhythm. Stayed on that for a couple of years, then they took me off of it. Guess it wasn't needed anymore.

Now for the really cool part. After that incident, the roof was torn off (so to speak) and my intuition and "psychic" abilities were completely opened. It was both a blessing and a curse because I was able to see, but we always forget that we only see the possibilities (free will still has the deciding factor in all situations) so I was going around telling people what I saw and when it didn't happen they labeled me nuts and moved on. What I learned was to follow that wide open intuition and be fully in the present moment and don't focus on the future and what COULD happen because we are constantly creating our future as we live our present. This took me a while to fully incorporate because there was a lot of old programming to be replaced.

Meditation can happen in different ways. It is easier for me to meditate when I'm walking through the woods or hanging out by water. The point is you don't have to follow any set of rules to meditate and get answers. You only need to get quiet and open to receive. Some people can do this by doing their meditations in the classic way that we always picture meditation, and some people need to move their bodies. Anything that gets you out of your mind and all the chatter in there can help.

I hope these ramblings help you a little.

When I'm facing an illness, I always turn to Louise Hay's "You Can Heal Your Life" for ideas on the spiritual meaning associated with the symptoms, along with affirmations to meditate on. It doesn't always correlate, but it frequently does and it certainly offers a starting point to think about.

Heart problems: longstanding emotional problems. lack of joy. belief in strain and stress. "Joy. Joy. Joy. I lovingly allow joy to flow through my mind and body and experience."

Breathing problems: fear or refusal to take life in fully. Not feeling the right to take up space or even exist at times. "It is my birthright to live fully and freely. I am worth loving. I now choose to live life fully."


Now, even more important, I'm looking at what you wrote when you were sobbing. "oh my god I've been wasting my life, etc."

There may lie your answer. It sounds to me like you are do for a life overhaul. Aka: midlife crisis. How have you been wasting your life? What would you have done differently? What can you do now, and from now on, to make your life "not a waste?" If you had 6 months to live and money was not an object, what would you spend that 6 months doing? These are questions to meditate on. BTW, don't expect to "hear" the answer during the meditation. That just focuses your intent. The answers will pop up later, unexpectedly.

It goes hand-in-hand with what the others wrote, btw. Menopause ain't called "The Change" for no reason, lol. Your life, its role and purpose, are fundamentally changing.

Also try tracing your heart meridian. This is actually extremely important. I can't emphasize this enough.

I'm reminded that I really should add one to strengthen the heart meridian!! People can do that on their own of course, but they don't really know about it.

hypnotherapist? You could use hypnotherapy to get to the root of the problem, or simply to learn relaxation techniques to counter the anxiety.

My guess is that you are passing through a very important time in your life, even if it's not overtly obvious, and something or someone is trying to get your attention so that you will do what needs to be done, make changes that need making.

and that is Magnesium. It has a marvelous ability to regulate the heart, plus so much more. Do you also take Vit D3? I take at least 5000mg. a day.

A very good OMega 3 is Moxxor with green lipped mussels. One of those babies makes an almost immediate diff. in my mood. I'm out of them now, though and using Dr. Mercola's Krill Oil.Good but not the same. I also like Traditional Medicine's Easy Now Tea!

I am a great believer in using lavender whenever possible to de-stress as well!

All of these things have greatly helped my Meno symptoms, plus EFT-tapping!

I've doing a lot of reading and writing today! Going to try to meditate and get in touch with what's happening and going on. I've also picked midnight April 1 to quit smoking so I'm mentally prepping for that right now (I"m an Aries so it seems like a fitting time to start something new). (I quit before so I know I can do it, it's hard but I can do it, I'm determined!) Yeah I'll ask my doctor about the perimenopause thing too. That's causing me to think a lot about midlife changes that will be going on soon...

Getting the physical stuff checked out, good. Taking care of yourself, good.


And then, midlife is really the time we re-evaluate our lives. It all centers on our heart. And that's where your symptoms presented. Interesting... It's good to pay attention.

Learn your own heart first. Explore your own spirit. What is your spirit nature like? Easy, bright? Soft, nurturing? Bold, with a bent for exploration? Are you a natural teacher? Are you quiet and dependable? Learn who you are without social restrictions? Know your place in the Universe. Reach for the stars my dear. You are bold, beautiful and fabulous.

Attend to your needs and you'll be spit spot before you know it.

palpitations et al, my first thought was that you are perio menopausal and you should find a good gyn who understand and prescribes compounded bio identical hormones. Then of course, sit on your cushion, follow your breath and find your center.
