Well, friends....
...I am likely to soon be embarking on a big life change. New job for partner, in a new geographic area (albeit one we have lived in before)
My current job was pretty much handed to me on a silver platter, and really helped me discover what I love and what I am good at. I know there will be plenty of part-time opportunities to do what I'm doing in the new place, but certainly no handing to or silver platters.
I've been assured by those more intuitive than I that it is a good thing, and my soul really does know that it's time to go, but due to a lifetime of habitual worry I'm REALLY having a hard time shutting out all the terrifying "yeah-but-what-if" scenarios, instead of the exciting "yeah-but-what-if" possibilities. Anyone have any specific meditative or other techniques to REALLY focus in and visualize positive outcomes?

Think about the forthcoming changes, and look ahead a week or so, or whenever these changes and the move are underway. Focus on the good all this will bring. . . . Take all the time you need to fill in the details. Make it as rich and vivid as you wish. . . .
Now take another deep breath, and look farther ahead, to when all of these changes are completed, and you're in your new life in the new location. Focus on all that good that has happened so far, how living again in this place is just right for both of you, how many opportunities for work are presenting themselves. See how positive all this has been. Fill in all the details that you need to make this as rich and complete as it needs to be. Take all the time you need to do so . . . .
Now take another deep breath, and let it out, knowing that you've made the right choices, and that you will go ahead with this new life and it will be right for you.

(8,423 posts)it's all so much easier said than done. Especially when the demon voices, I mean "the neggies" negatives) come-a-trolling. The last few days I have had a most terrible time with them!

Allow them, acknowledge them, validate them, honor them, give them their due, counter them with "if this happens, then I can try xyz," and then it will be easier to let them go and explore the exciting side. Really, if you deliberately try to focus extra attention on them, they may even start to get very boring
What we shut out (or bury) is more likely happen than what we address in a positive way.
And congratulations on your upcoming big change. I'm still hopeful about manifesting mine....

(5,636 posts)Whatever you find in your new place will be what you were intended to find and experience. Even, and maybe especially, the challenges. Embark on this as an adventure. As a wise person once said to me, every adventure has its scary parts, but that's what makes it an adventure. There is no evolution without challenge.
You'll be fine, even if you don't always believe it.
