Nothing is broken!

I got my x-ray results. My hips are not cracked. My tailbone is not cracked. It is "only" bruised. If this is what bruised feels like, I can't imagine what broken must feel like. I am still a long way from healed.

Great news! The inflatable/foam donut (fer settin' on) will be your friend for some time to come (along with extra-strength ibuprofen).

Yeah, you do NOT want to have a broken tailbone. I broke mine giving birth to my son who came out with one of his arms over his head (he still sleeps like that, the little stinker). The crack sounded like a gunshot. Made my first few months as a new mother unbelievably challenging, lemme tell ya. Now, eight years later, if I sit on a hard chair or bench for too long, I end up in serious pain.

That was told to me many, many years ago by a medical professional.

As a horsewoman, I've had my share of both bruised and broken. They both hurt. And your tailbone is a one of those particularly tough hurts because I imagine you really cannot sit without pain. (Another really tough one is rib -- try not breathing for 6-8 weeks while you heal!)

How long it takes to heal will depend on how badly bruised. In the meantime, arnica and anything that cranks your metabolism will help speed the healing. Also alternating warm and cold packs on the bruised area to get blood circulating through the area.

Back before the original metabolife was banned, I discovered that cranking your metabolism really helps speed healing. I had a very painful sprain sustained in karate class heal within days. I felt like I could feel the debris movin' on out...

my mom cracked her tailbone falling on the ice a few years ago, and it STILL hurts her from time to time...that's no fun, it gives a whole new twist on the phrase "my but hurts" (sorry, had to...laughter is good medicine!)

It is good to have friends and help with this healing. The pain is still bad, but I am confident that it is temporary.

It is amazing how it can heal bruises! Unless the skin is broken, it is my go to salve for internal bruising.

Glad you weren't hurt worse!

for no broken bones! i know how you feel as i did this to myself about 8 years ago. sat down HARD on the arm of my new couch, thinking it was the cushion. the pain was so bad i saw stars and thought i was going to black out. get yourself a really good coccyx cushion, maybe gel? sorry to say, it takes several months to fully heal, but you will.

stay strong and take care of yourself!
