1. If you make enough predictions, one is bound to occur. I think I'll trust a fellow veteran as

protest leader to warn them what to expect and how to react. That's what our vet group does it at our events.

3. No. It was on home page, and as a vet who has participated in multiple

protests and helped provide safety at LGBTQ events at their request, I wondered what astrology had to do with veterans and immediately noticed "For entertainment purposes only".

I think the post was an insult to us vets. But I was tolerant enough to not flag it but just to point out that making lots of random predictions are not what I want to see when participating in vet protests.

I've heard enough at the events from right wingers who "predict" what's going to happen because "God told them".

Not always related to veterans, of course, rather on a variety of democratic topics.

If you were to watch the video or read the txcript, I'm sure you will find this reader's sole intention was to forewarn those who might attend the march of any potential threats she might see..

We welcome your participation in this forum but request that you do so in a respectful manner. I do not see her reading as an insult &, as you state that you do, perhaps you would do well to avoid this forum.

Nobody here is disrespectimg vetrrans by any means, but if you take a person's well-intentioned efforts as an insult, then please avoid the forum.

"For entertainment purposes only" is obviously a legal disclaimer, just in case anybody's tender feelings get hurt.

As you might realize, when a new post is created, it shows in the "Latest" threads.

7. I have a request for you

I don't know if you're familiar with why we have special forums to discuss certain topics, but as a long-time DU-er, I will tell you where it comes from. People who are into astrology, tarot card reading, and the like are dealing with another "sense," a sense that many people don't understand because they haven't cultivated it. A long time ago posters with such interests/abilities had to post in "whatever" forum--might be GD, might be the Lounge, or wherever else the poster thought it appropriate to post.

Consequently such posters were subjected to comments that showed ignorance of the sense and also showed a lack of understanding as to what the topic was about. They were comments like yours: they disparaged our beliefs and abilities.

I've read the transcription above and I see nothing that would insult a vet.

Furthermore, you have violated the forum's statement of purpose with the following:

You might be interested to know that some of us track the predictions, and so far almost all of them have been on target. "Lots of random predictions" shows that you don't understand how the reader gets the information. It seeks to trivialize the reader.

Here's another one:

You seem to equate the beliefs in this forum with right wingers, am I correct? Nothing whatsoever about astrology or card reading has anything to do with the right wing and, for that matter, "God." Are you aware that some people who work with these areas do not even believe in a deity?

Many of them (myself included) take the view of Stephen Hawking, who rejects the conventional notion of God or a creator--yet Hawking fundamentally believed that the universe and life have meaning.

I am going to ask you to self-delete your posts because they are irrelevant to the topic of the thread. They do not positively advance the discussion. If you don't want to do that, I am going to ask that the posts be deleted for violation of the statement of purpose, which is: "Positively explore issues having to do with Astrology, metaphysics & spirituality, homeopathy/alternative medicine and healing, Ascension, and other subjects having to do with holistic physical and spiritual growth & traditions."

15. I'd like to respond to your comments.

I only responded to the posting in this forum because both as a veteran and one that, in my capacity as a veteran with other veterans, who has participated in multiple events as mentioned in an earlier post, I am insulted by the use of anything other than logic to hear what apparent non-veterans think we should do or not do or be careful of at such activities.

The topic was not about your beliefs. It was about veterans. I could care less about your beliefs but believe you are fully entitled to them. I find the combination of "for entertainment only" as indicating that the predictions are just a joke in this forum. Joke all you want but don't pretend to tell veterans who have protested what you think you see happening.

Are you a vet? If not, then please don't comment on whether YOU think it is insulting. What an outsider thinks who has not experienced the military and who has not participated in veterans activity of the nature discussed and what one who has, should feel are not the same. I FEEL INSULTED.

All I saw were cards. If the reader has other logical, professional, experienced or scientific evidence of these things, then that evidence should be provided.

My references to right wingers is that they believe in a God who tells them (and some claim they were directly told) or who "interpret" in from their readings, want to tell everyone what will happen with a certainty that I don't believe in. I neither profess to be a Christian, be religious or believe in any higher power and I believe all lives have meaning but not from any external power whether it comes from a right-wing God or from people who feel they have a special power to forecast the future other than what anyone of a logical mind could not do based on the evidence everyone has available to them. I could care less what Stephen Hawking thought about the type of things. He was an immensely brilliant scientist & one of the best in history but that doesn't mean his thoughts are any better than others about anything outside his area of expertise.

My comments were NOT "irrelevant to the topic of the thread" as you boldly put it. It was directly relevant because it was SPECIFICALLY ABOUT THE "Veterans' March on 3/14", a veteran topic, and it IS insulting to this disabled veteran. Please do not tell me that you know, whether you are a veteran or not, that it is not insulting to me. Let ME make that judgement.

I will not remove my comments. You may have them removed, especially, if you don't show this particular reply. But removing my comments is a way to hide from the issue. Do what you like. I have never come to this forum until I saw the title and wondered why a topic like that was not in the Veterans forum or a general forum where I would have expected someone to comment about the March which I can, unfortunately, not attend.

I have long since added the forum to my "completely hide" list and only continue to comment because I see them when I look at "my posts" as they continue to defend "beliefs" as justification to claim that "predict" something about the Veteran's March yet show it as "entertainment only". I'm sorry. I'm not entertained. I remain insulted by the topic.

If you think any of my comments to you are insulting in any way, I do apologize but let's say we are now equal.
