PSA about
president Biden.
He will have 75 1/2 days (or about if inauguration day is moved) of presidential immunity per SC ruling.after election day when he can sign bills in to law if there are any he wants to.
That is more than 2 months.

(32 posts)I mean no disrespect, but by law, the inauguration must happen on Jan 20 at 12:00 Noon Eastern Time, full stop. I'm not sure why you'd suggest it could be moved?

(28,468 posts)In 2025, Martin Luther King Day falls on the 20th. As that is a Federal holiday it is possible the inauguration would be pushed to the 22nd. The last time I looked, it does appear that it is still scheduled for the 20th.
And swearing Kamala in on MLK Day would seem so appropriate.

(32 posts)I expect it will be left on the 20th, since the law is only provides the exception for it being a Sunday, not a holiday. Besides, as you said, it would be rather poetic and appropriate for the first black woman to be sworn in on MLK day.
