I've caught the first cold I've had in years

My pal was telling me of an alternative concoction made from......(get ready for this) ....onion, garlic, ginger root, horseradish root, soaked in apple cider vinegar. Sounds like an antibiotic formula for a bacterial infection. Pretty sure this is viral. Do you have any cures. I don't think I could stand this magic medicine, even if I did go to the trouble. I made chicken soup.

I'm a huge fan of each of the ingredients you mentioned, though I've never had them mixed together in such a concoction. Still, I would be willing to try it.

Whenever I feel anything respiratory coming on, I make garlic soup and it usually knocks it out before it takes hold.

Just veggie broth with tons of fresh garlic (I can't be fun to be around), with hot pepper sauce. That's it, but it's effective for me.

Soup with lots of onion, pepper and garlic. Helps clear my sinuses before something takes hold, or helps me feel better once it does get to that point.

You need hydrogen peroxide, a small cup, and a few cotton swabs.

Mix 1/3 peroxide, 2/3 water in the cup.

Dip swabs in and use to wipe both ears.

Dip more swabs in and use to clean both nostrils.

Now gargle the rest of the liquid.

I do this at the first sign of a cold and it sometimes keeps the cold from starting. During a cold it will sometimes shorten the duration,

I also recommend learning how to use a neti pot. They sell them over the counter at CVS and probably other drugstores too. You can get amazing relief from clogged sinuses with a neti pot.

is a great start. Colds go for my throat so I always gargle with salt water and follow with a teaspoon of honey.

This is what it's all about. The remedy you were given is probably to help decongest (horseradish is awesome for this!), as well as rev up the circulation with thermogenic herbs like ginger (which is great to either help with chills or induce sweating, which further releases toxins).

If you are not taking any cold remedies, you will not suppress the healing crisis and rid your body of the excess mucus. This is really the best way to go, IMO. When I was a kid I was always given cold tablets (to stop runny nose and bring down fever) so the mucus just went deeper into my bronchial area and I would have horrible coughs lasting weeks. It's better to allow the body to detox fully (while also eating very light, non-mucus-forming foods like fruits and veggies, for example).

so provide some symptom relief. preferably as ginger root tea w/lemon and honey, imo.

elderberry extract, in particular sambucol (which uses a proprietary extraction technique that gets out some specific, proven anti-viral compounds), can be helpful. Not the homeopathic which, ime, doesn't work. But the full strength extract.

Chicken soup always helps.

It is supposed to work on viruses. I know it works on bacteria and fungi, and it says it works on viruses. I've also read accounts of people getting rid of cold sores with it in one day or so.

But I find I have to take more of it than it says, and it is important to get the real deal. That would be the one that is P and a number. I get another one like that on line, for less money, but many brands are very watered down. I mean, diluted with olive oil.

But it does work.

I have CFIDS, and am susceptible to viruses, I think. If I don't use it, I get quite sick.

And I've had others tell me it works.

Colds are caused by/exacerbated by blocked energy. Pick out some music that covers the full range of notes--high to low and all in between. Put on your ear buds, lie down and enjoy the music. The various tones will open and massage your chakras.

I enjoy using the music of Enigma--lots of high to low notes.

If you get hit by something, especially anything others are getting, do the medicines you'd expect, see a doctor as needed, and also consider if there is anything in your life/energy that it's time to release, to accept, to name.

This is not an absolute but I'm talking about things which come in waves in the population, especially within the next year or so as the energetic shifts increase in amplitude and frequency.

I myself have only had one full-blown cold in the last 12 years or so. I did allow a small one to develop further than I should have had I been paying better attention and following my own program more carefully recently, but I stay cold-free and so does my family:

this routine for 3 yrs, take them w/food everyday and have organic yogurt at least every other day-it's worked. I have not had a cold in a long time, as the bacteria is balanced in the gastric system.
I do use sauna and dry sauna to release/cleanse body toxins through the year.
