(7,493 posts)The other battleground states will struggle to count early votes in time to decide on election night, but Florida, surprisingly, has a long history of quickly counting mail in votes.
If that holds, and if Biden wins, then Trump can win WI and MI and PA and OH and still lose provided Biden just wins AZ (or any one of those other four states).
Networks may not call it in that scenario, but the odds are that if Biden is declared the winner of Florida, every network is basically going to spend the night talking about how hard it will be for Trump to overcome that.
And Trump won't be able to claim fraud in Florida credibly after he spent so much time hyping them out as doing good at mail in voting.
If Florida goes Trump, or is a toss-up, then I think yeah, we won't see any overall calls until the next day, at the earliest.

(911 posts)your post but think that even if the claim is ridiculous on it's face tRump will make one just to buy time to come up with another plan to try to steal the election. He has so much riding on losing. I think he would file a claim on Nov 4.

(18,282 posts)My hubby ran for office and in our town of 30,000 it took nearly a week to get all the ballots counted. The results were posted online 2x a day. You get an initial dump of counts in the first cpl days and then the counts start to just dribble in. But after day 3 the winner is pretty much determined. There were only about 10,000 votes cast.
Now multiply all that!

Yeah, Merc is stationary but there will be parting shots.. Astrologer Jim Shawvan, Llewellyn's Daily Planetary Guide, calls it "Mercury's Storm" & it gets over on Nov 8th.

(14,398 posts)and Mercury will also be rx for part of the same period October 14 to November 3!
Its probably going to take exceptional action by all to perform our civic duties. There will be extreme delays and misinformation (disinformation?) during election season.

(26,727 posts)but I am inclined to agree that the results on election night will be valid. I honestly think that the various claims that it will be days, or weeks, or even longer before we know the outcome simply aren't believable. They rank up there with the thinking every four years that the convention will have a contested nomination, or that the Electoral College will wind up in a tie. I've seen those predictions for a number of years now, and they are never grounded in how the system works.
Similarly, by midnight or even sooner, we will know who the President will be.

will have to be dealt with and not just shunted aside. The investigation will take some time - hopefully just days. Perhaps a demand for proof connected to the claim with a deadline for submission.
In the meantime if reported returns showed a Biden lead large enough for victory I think the call would stand until proven wrong. That could not be dismissed just because someone said it was wrong. The numbers reported to media come from officially recognized sources , they are not just made up.
This would be in agreement with PoindexterOglethorpe on knowing the call on election night and my original post in this thread.
