Can I get some good vibes for my kid, please?
Geez, I swear, every time we think something good is going to happen, it doesn't. She has just had a year of disappointments that she hasn't expected. (For example, she has twice been cast as the lead in a play production and both times, through no fault of her own, has lost the part. Things like this keep happening over and over and it's just heartbreaking.) I don't know if there something going on in her chart and she's got some major horrible transit or what, but she could certainly use some good thoughts! Thanks!

(12,201 posts)Sometimes I think being a parent is more agonizing than actually living through childhood and the whole "teen years" was.
My son is a May baby (in Chinese signs he's a Metal Dragon) and it's been up and down (think major roller coaster ride) this year for him. Not through bad choices or actions of his own that I can tell, but just circumstances, miscommunications, unforeseen obstacles, and at times, some other peoples choices (like a project partner told him their teacher changed the due date for a project when she hadn't). Moving forward has not been easy this year, but we're getting there.

(4,004 posts)Sometimes, being a parent sucks.
The whole "life is not fair" argument is just such a difficult one to deliver. It would be one thing if she wasn't doing her best, but this is the opposite. She's walked away from things thinking that she nailed it and then life just does not deliver.

(26,001 posts)Because you're so "wrenched" when things go awry for them, and as they get older/bigger you can't, of course, keep protecting them...
Makes it tough!
All good vibes, from a fellow parent, out to you, Sweet Freedom!

(18,186 posts)It sucks when you see your child suffering due to the vicissitudes of this crazy life.
All the "what ifs" and "why?s" can drive you nuts. I have no answers, because I have trouble getting over all the nasty deals my kids and I've been dealt. You have to grieve what could have been and move on, but that is easier said than done sometimes.
My kids have worked hard with very little help and have risen above their troubles and done well in this life despite the hardships and stumbling blocks and such. There is great hope for your wonderful child.
I'm sure your daughter will achieve great things as well. With you as her mom she can't go wrong.
