ASAH Group Host

Skinner has a thread about how to apply up in Announcements.
The link is here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1013434

I can think of lots of reasons to have host(s) like managing threads that the group wants pinned from time (and also in case someone really came in and was disrespectful) and not too many reasons not to have one, but they aren't mandatory.

There is one main host to be appointed by Skinner, and then that host can add others.

If anyone would like to host you can use this thread as a base, or start your own post.

I will volunteer for it if no one else want's to host, but I feel that most of you are much better known to the group than I am, and it's important to have the main host be someone you all feel comfortable with.

To be perfectly honest ASAH is sanctuary for me.

I come here to breathe, to learn, to refocus my priorities, and to clear out negative energy.

As a member, I am willing to answer questions from posters about the practices I believe in, but if I felt that someone was constantly, deliberately posting things just to provoke the group, I might be less tolerant than some of the rest of you.

The intent of the new host powers for the group, from what I understand, is to let us build the community that we want, as a group, and to protect it. I'm really grateful that it has been set up this way.

But you probably wouldn't be less tolerant than me, I'm kind of on the intolerant side where bullying is concerned.

I think you will be great and thank you for your willingness to serve in that capacity. I need this place as a sanctuary as well.

I hopped in to host during the testing phase because I love this group so much, and wanted to make sure things were working correctly. I really didn't do it with any idea of having the position now that we are live. But I will be happy to be one of the hosts, if it works out that way.

If you'd like to Skinners thread about hosts it is here in Announcements:

We have the opportunity to have multiple hosts, so I won't be the only one, if other want to serve the group also.

I was looking over the Topics and Groups assortment and something stood out for me that just was jarring.

There's NOTHING under the Health groupings for CAM - Complimentary and Alternative Medicine. Meanwhile, it doesn't seem to ever get discussed here. Is it time to reformulate THIS group and get something opened in the other?? Honestly "alternative medicine" seems quite out of place with Astrology and Spirituality in the RELIGION category.

What do you all think?

I should say, I ask this as someone who is VERY interested in alternative healthcare, with two books of my own for sale on Amazon on the subject and several alt health-related blogs.

I feel that there is a strong connection between the spiritual state and dis-ease in the body. So alternative medicine sort of works for me here, and even in the cooking group, where we have often talked about medicinal properties of foods.

I probably don't know enough about what traditionally falls under Complementary and Alternative Medicine to clearly see the distinction you are making though. Hopefully others with more understanding will chime in.

modalities, but who isn't necessarily into Louise Hay, Donna Eden, and so many others, wouldn't dream of coming into an Astrology forum. I wouldn't myself, frankly, if I weren't fully involved in these other subjects.

Let me put it this way: alternative health, a multi-billion dollar industry, is now mainstream. Astrology is decidedly not. Yet.

I agree we don't talk about it much in here. I think that is mostly because it is difficult sometimes to discuss it without infringing on the DU rules about not offering medical advice. But I do believe it belongs here because as a separate topic, it tends to invites...unpleasantness? from others..if you catch my meaning. I am on earthclinic and naturalnews dot com all the time;l as well as making my own Vit.C cream for my face from several natural beauty sites (I'm really into that! and of course, supplementation; distance healing, etc.) If I may ask, what are your books?
