The Gift of Breath-Matt Kahn

Featured Teaching:

"The Gift of Breath"

by Matt Kahn

Every precious breath is its own incarnation. It leaves behind no trace or evidence of what spontaneously appears, as the next breath of incarnation miraculously unfolds. Every inhale is a birth, while every exhale is a death, with nothing but the grace of constant change appearing in between. This may be seen whenever you combine the words, birth and death. In doing so, another word is formed. It is a word called breath.

In the final moment of your life, you may find yourself wishing for nothing else but one more precious breath. Knowing this, perhaps you can take the time to notice the access you already have to such an abundance of breath that inevitably becomes the one thing you're bound to desire more than anything else. From this space, you can breathe in the heartfelt recognition that no matter what occurs in life's timeless play, you are always given full access to life's greatest desire - one more breath. It is true. Life's greatest treasure always exists within you, but it is a gift that cannot be unwrapped until it is wholeheartedly received.

To receive the gift of breath is to freely offer it the only thing it wants - your undivided attention. As the gift of each breath is given the fullness of your attention, you begin to recognize how truly abundant you already are. From this space, you spare yourself from needing the uncertainty of death's doorway to inspire such an acknowledgment. As this occurs, you may realize that while everything that comes is sure to go, the miracle of life transforms from the inside out - one mindful breath at a time.

It is what I follow in meditation. It's so interesting that we can breathe without out even being conscious at all of it. Sometimes I can only get 2 or 3 breaths in before my mind goes down some rabbit hole and I have to haul it back.

Hope you're doing well! Spring is almost here and I'm starting to think I might make it.

Some dramatic events of the last few weeks are finally catching up with me, and I feel bowled over and raw, but for the time being I'm doing okay, still have some challenges, my ex has given me a lot of grief, lets just say. But breath sweet breath, oh yes so sweet, and SPRING!
