(I got my feelings hurt because an old wound surprised me, so I told my friend he hurt my feelings and basically he hurt my feelings even more, which was another crappy surprise.)

I'm a clumsy lover. I said fairy in the gay group, trying to ask if the reason gays were attracted to the Wizard of Oz, was because of the Glenda GoodWitch, character. She is my favorite, and thought she might have the same attraction, to her goodness and beauty. They were discussing the "Friends of Dorothy", which was a covert way to ask a stranger if they were gay. I was questioning the reason why the gay community had coopted the phrase. I got bounced immediately.
My first thought was oh well, they don't want me, whatever. Then I started to cry. And it wasn't just a sniffle, I bawled for quite awhile. I was really hurt and I couldn't explain or fix it. I was shut out and they felt safer for it. The alert called me a troll and a homophobe. It broke my heart.
Dude, I like good witches, fairy godmothers, and fairies, of all stripes. I thought they would love them, too. And me. I was wrong.
I feel for you. My heartfelt sympathy.

I saw that thread but I guess I must not have seen your post. I hope you'll accept a hug for your grief .
Sometimes people jump to conclusions when they have been hurt. I suspect that happened to you. It sucks because I love having allies. No point in alienating people.
That means a lot. Live and learn. I was too abrupt in my eagerness to be accepted and try and fit in. My expectations were way up. That's why I was so let down.
I lost my equanimity. Should have played it cool.
