Astrology of the Sandy Hook Massacre
by Alex Miller on January 8, 2013
By now were all too familiar with the storya lone gunman, an outsider, disturbed, unbalanced, arms himself with semiautomatic weapons and kills a group of innocent people who just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Just another day in America.
And were also distressingly informed about the details of this particular shooting spree. 20 children aged six and seven shot multiple times each at their elementary school; six teachers and staff killed there as well; the shooters mother killed earlier at home while she slept; the killer taking his own life as police approached.
...
Astrologically, I have never before encountered a current events story with this much data and detail, and its quite overwhelming. As dramatic as the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting was last summer, this one is orders of magnitude greater. Of the 28 dead (including the shooter), all but two have asteroid referents for their names, as do the school itself and the community of Newtown, Connecticut where the tragedy occurred. Even the make of the guns used are represented. And with birth dates available for all of the victims, the amount of data for analysis is staggering.
...
Overarching this and many more similar tragedies recently is the ongoing square between Uranus and Pluto, which dominates our time. Violent, uncontrolled, primal and unpredictable, this aspect is the root cause of the incredible gun violence we have seen this year, from Auroras movie theater shooting in July through the Sikh temple carnage in August, the spa shooting in Wisconsin in October, and the Oregon mall shooting just three days before Sandy Hook. Although the square was not exact at the time of the shooting, the two planets are not out of orb of aspect all year, and a key side factor that day set them off strongly.
For 19 consecutive months, from April 2012 through August 2013, the Moon will be occulting Pluto when they make their monthly conjunction. An occultation, literally a hiding, occurs when a larger body passes directly in front of a smaller one, from our perspective, completely blotting it out from our sight. Like any other type of eclipse, occultations focus and highlight the energies of the points involved, bringing attention and manifestation in their wake. The occultation of Pluto by the Moon is a rare celestial event which has not happened in almost 80 years; to have 19 in a row now, while Pluto struggles with Uranus, is a portent of major change and potentially devastating ramifications.

Why Syzygy
(18,928 posts)The sheer number of planetary (and asteroid) connections is overwhelming.
The particular asteroids and planets involved have names that describe the event in graphic terms.
And when you think that we have seven more months of the same sort of aspects, fatigue from emotional anguish can settle in.
There are probably people who read here that should never read this article. We have to know our own limits.

(12,296 posts)Why do news outlets always use the most morbid, freakish photo of a 'criminal' they can find?
Surely there are other photos of Lanza (and other "deranged psychos" that would remind us that they are/were (at one point in their lives) human ... someone's son, brother, friend, whatever.
Why must we vilify them even after they're dead? Does it comfort our collective psyche to be able to picture them as differentiated from the rest of us as possible? Does it allow us to bury our own shortcomings as a people that someone who was 'one of us' could reach that state of rage, confusion or desperation?
Fact is, until that moment in time, he WAS one of us - probably a very sad and emotionally tortured one of us - & I think we all need to be reminded of that as a means to look at how we treat each other and how we treat mental/emotional illness in this country.
I'm not defending his actions but geez, c'mon.

(13,588 posts)I think that once the media gets a horror story like this one they like to keep with a theme. If he's a "monster" he has to be shown as one, he can't be shown as looking like some young guy next door. The media seems to like to create cartoons out of things IMO, very black and white ones.

(12,296 posts)... calling him evil incarnate, a 'viper at his mother's bosom', etc etc ... WTH?
He may have had a pre-destined propensity (as shown by the astrology, if one chooses to believe all the maneuvering) toward an anti-social and even violent end, but does that mean that we have no control over our 'fate'?
"Oh, he's a bad seed, throw away the key" rather than try to figure out what cues in our society provide that final push to folks who may already be partially-the-way-there on their own. Why bother trying to educate and socialize then? Let's just head back to the caves and duke it out with clubs and rocks.
Do I think his fate could have been different? Sure. Probably. Possibly. I don't know.
But I do believe that at some point in his life, he was a little kid - scared, confused, wanting comfort from his mommy - just like the kids at Sandy Hook. Why the media & popular sentiment has to ignore that just bugs the crap out of me.

(38,893 posts)in some way, or at least that's how he's hinting at it. If so, he probably shouldn't add judgement. Big can of worms here. And very ugly. Unpleasant to read and to consider. I'd never known of these asteroids although I'm certainly nothing more than a casual observer. It would make sense that there are bodies which represent or indicate negatives, just as do certain cards in the Tarot. (I use Tarot among other decks because it tells the truth about negatives so that they may be known and righted.)

(14,881 posts)On the one hand, such an overwhelming number of planetary and asteroid "coincidences." On the other hand, such judgmental language in some of of his interpretation of events. Very difficult reading.
From what I have read, Adam was brilliant but clearly mentally ill and emotionally disturbed. He could not bear to be touched or have people too close to him, yet couldn't bear to be alone. I read his mother sometimes would sleep just outside his bedroom door so he could talk to her without having her too close. She was making preparations to have him committed and he knew it. She was friends with the people that ran Sandy Hook, did some volunteering there...Adam apparently saw the children as rivals and his mother's friends there as co-conspirators in committing him. Primal fear of abandonment, rage directed at the apparent cause....
I do think that there is at times a fine line between free will and fate. I don't believe we "make plans" or "agreements" between lifetimes, but I do believe that as some major events unfold, we "agree" to be part of them or play certain roles in the moment.
And of course if there is no time, and it is all happening now but just perceived as a linear sequence, then connecting into the ether might explain how certain things end up being named for events they are/will be attached to.
And if you want to call Lucifer evil, and yet Lucifer means "light bearer," then perhaps Lucifer's true role is shedding light on evil, not evil itself. I think it may be best to leave biblical and certainly traditional western organized religion out of interpretations.

(38,893 posts)I'll PM a description to you too heavy to be publicly posted. Suffice to say, Philip K. Dick described evil as a bouncing, tantalizing red light which leads you further and further into darkeness, until it is dark all around, then winks out.
Why Syzygy
(18,928 posts)I would love to see another photo of him. I've only seen this, the same one everywhere! It makes one wonder, where are the rest of the photos? I would like to know too.
I'm not sure about the vilify aspect. I've noticed much more vilification of his mother, rather than him.
If you're judging by this particular article (as opposed to media in general), read my reply to Celebration. Feminine aspects are going to naturally portray the dark nature. That doesn't mean "evil". But if we think about it, evil is never exposed to light. All things we might call, "evil" are hidden. This could even be how the Divine Feminine was over thrown about the same time that the Atonist cult (perverted form of Sun worship) took hold of civilization. (ala' Michael Tsarion) They vilified the darkness. They even went to bed as soon as the Sun set, so terrified were they of the dark of night.
btw . I haven't vilified anyone involved with this tragedy. All I've done is pay attention. My personality has the "Perceptive" designation. It is hard for me to judge anything. I don't think we have to judge everything. It does seem to be the most heavily traveled path of humanity.

(13,428 posts)Understand, I am NOT denigrating the article or its author!
I am wondering how this all fits into the idea of free will and choices that the various individuals make. Clearly, there was only ONE guy that went nuts that day (to that extent, anyhow...) Wouldn't there have been others impacted by those same influences who did not act out under those pressures or who acted out in ways that didn't kill a classroom full of little kids? Similarly, wouldn't there have been other women/mothers under those same influences--or worse--who were not murdered as part of a suicidal/homicidal rampage?
How much of this is destiny and how much is an interpretation after the fact? I honestly have no idea because Astro is not my strong suit.

(3,794 posts)It was Neptune along with Mars and Uranus, mostly Neptune.
It was the MIRROR being shown to this nation to look at itself and see exactly what our spiritual status is.
Numb when others die, doing something when it's children, that's how numb we've become.
The 26 were martyrs, in my opinion.
You see we are getting action.
The chart for the NRA is getting hit smack dab in their cruelest point. A very strong irratic chart, they must
provide the solutions. It must come from them or else their "institution" is in danger.
The gun is symbolic of attack. THe old pre-Mayan world was built on the sword.Neptune came in with Obama,
we are failing with Obama in some ways because Cancerian America only feels safe behind a gun or sword.
Cancerian AMerica is very hypocritical. The movement is afoot to change this, the next 10 years will tell.

(13,428 posts)I don't think any change is as quick as flipping a switch. With a violent mindset being the dominant human reaction for SO long, I'd be amazed if it did turn 'round in only one decade. We are living in interesting times, indeed.

Why Syzygy
(18,928 posts)I don't believe in predestination. But some disagree, and would say he chose all this between lives, and so did the children. Personally, I have to reject that theory.
There are a LOT of details given in this account of the asteroid and planetary aspects. They ALL meshed. It wasn't just a spot here and there. It is a very intricately laced series of events and people's lives, etc.
But you make a good point. Things like this do make us question what it all means. Do we even have the capacity to know? Maybe some day.

(15,812 posts)I had no idea there was an asteroid named Lucifer. REALLY?
Ricochet21
(3,794 posts)they are thought of mostly in negative archaic terms. My gal and I were just saying yesterday how those
archetypes need revisited and brought out of the dark ages. Most have awful translations. I give them no
attention.

(3,794 posts)Lucifer isn't necessarily bad.
Lucifer wasn't just a name for Satan's angel name.
It also refered to the dawn appearance of the planet, Venus. Morning Star
Lucifer means "light bearer"

Why Syzygy
(18,928 posts)Asteroids in astrology are used by some astrologers in a similar way to the planets. Asteroids are planetoids that orbit the Sun between Mars and Jupiter, and are not to be confused with centaurs or trans-Neptunian objects. The asteroids are relatively new to astrology, having only been discovered in the 19th century. However, some of them (especially the largest of them), are believed by some astrologers to influence human affairs. Still though, they are often ignored within mainstream systems of astrology, especially in more traditional astrology systems like Vedic astrology or Hellenistic astrology. Their use has become significant to a few Western astrologers yet still only a minority of astrologers use the asteroids in chart interpretation.
I don't know much about them. But, then I don't know a whole lot about planetary astrology either. Alex Miller is a well respected astrologer. I have no reason not to pay attention to his analysis and explanation. Portions of this article from Daykeeper is also posted on Mountain Astrologer, a favorite of mine.
From what I've read so far, the asteroids (at least the first four discovered) are associated with the Feminine. That's going to give what we think of as "dark" energy, as darkness is a feminine aspect. Judging by this article, they take events deeper. Even Chiron has been considered an asteroid.
Over the past two decades the use of the first four discovered asteroids has become popular in astrology. The asteroids are a series of minor planets mostly between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Some think the asteroids are the remnants of a planet which exploded. Others believe they are a planet which never coalesced. not many years ago a more recently discovered asteroid named Chiron )located between the orbits of Saturn and Uranus) was also added to the astrological toolbox.
What follows is a brief description of these five asteroids along with some suggested meanings. As with the planets, the influences of the asteroids are strongly linked to the mythological legend for which they are named. It should be stressed that a final determination the asteroids' meanings await astrologers' use, experience and interpretation. In general, the first four asteroids add a feminine influence to the masculine-dominated hierarchy of the standard ten planets. In fact, these four asteroids can be correlated to the four archetypes of woman as given in Edmund Whitman's book The Symbolic Quest. Another book, Asteroid Goddess by Demetra George, also comprehensively examines the feminine principle of the first four asteroids.
