(63,200 posts)I was told by a Catholic friend that leaving the church would not do a thing to heal the sexual assault - that I should stay and help fix the church.
I asked her if that in effect would give my approval to what they did? How stupid do you think I am?

I am not telling people to stop believing in God, just quit this one club.

(14,715 posts)The confusion is thinking that the gods are benevolent. They aren't. See the Book of Job for a clue. At least the Hellenes got this right. Their myths are filled with malevolent gods being quite awful and humans utterly unable to comply with their endless petty demands.
