Pieroni begged gay and lesbian parishioners not to leave the church during Sunday services at St. Raymonds Roman Catholic Church in Providence, The Boston Globe reported.
A lot of people have hung in there, but its like, One more slap and we are done. I am here to beg you and I will get on my hands and knees and beg you not to leave, Pieroni told the congregation.
...Tobin, a conservative bishop, said he didnt mean to offend anyone, but he also defended the tweet. He said in a statement Sunday that it was his obligation to teach the faith clearly and compassionately, even on very difficult and sensitive issues.
We know where it hurts them. We know how to force the RCC to change. Please, Catholics who care, make your position known with your dollars and/or feet.

(34,802 posts)if you stay in the Church, you support that position.
If you think you are going to change the Church, just another fairy tale you believe in.

(63,198 posts)otherwise they go out of business. I am frankly surprised they have kept as much of their customer base as they have.
I was one of those kids who was abused by a priest in the late 50s. That was one priest, but all the other priests I knew also led very unpriestly lives.
When all this started coming out in the 2000s I had long since left the church. A friend persuaded me to go to a meeting for those abused. The priest doing the meeting told me that such things were no good reason to leave the church. My reaction was that the priest must be insane.
Why would a customer continue to trade where they treated their customers like that?
