Translation: The Catholic hierarchy is acknowledging that the church needs to update its understanding of the science of sex and gender, and that also means updating the churchs theology on sexuality and its ministry to gay people.

(42,649 posts)And as I stated in another post, when/if the institutional RCC fully accepts and welcomes every variation of human gender, that will/would be a good thing.

Of course, there could be information in the article at the link that justifies your optimism. But, if so, you didn't include that in your excerpt, for some reason.
ETA: After reviewing the entire article, the ruling on the field stands. Punt. Maybe they'll do better during their next possession.
