Visited my daughter and s-i-l in Maine
They have a camp on Sebec Lake and s-i-l's family lives nearby. I flew from the local regional airport. My tickets cost a little more, but I was able to drive there and park my car for free. Just a 20 minute drive compared to the 1 hour + for any other airport. I think any of the flights I chose would have drawbacks. I had to leave early Sunday to get to Maine, and really early Thursday morning to return. All the planes were full.
The lake as always, is beautiful and peaceful. We spent time at the family farm, and they visited us at the camp. We met for breakfast at a local restaurant called Love, Peace and Waffles. They served sweet or savory waffles, many choices, and a wide choice of sides. I found out they were featured in an article in Down East Magazine.
It was supposed to be rainy the whole time I was there, so we didn't really make any plans. But the weather cleared Monday evening and stayed nice as long as I was there.

I imagine they will eventually retire there full time, even though they say they won't lol
Dover-Foxcroft is unspoiled. Lots of small local restaurants in the area, small businesses, farming. My s-i-l left my daughter and me at the lake and went to help his uncle put up hay. My daughter and s-i-l love going there. They live near D.C. so I can see the attraction. He spent the summers on the family farm when he was a kid. He likes to fish from the bank. I guess he caught a good-sized bass the other day, but he does catch and release. There's plenty of hunting and fishing. Mixed bag of politics. His family members on the farm are probably Democrats. He has a cousin who isn't. She and her daughter like to slip snotty things in to the conversations. Oh yes, at least with this family, the big entertainment is conversing. I like hearing the stories, but they are new to me. Lots of "Yes, we heard that one!" lol
I bet if you moved back, you would make friends pretty quick
on Contour, quick stop at Beckley, then to Charlotte, SC, where I switched to American Airlines. Charlotte is MOV RA's hub. From Charlotte, flew to Bangor. On the way home, left Bangor at 5:50 am (!!!), very short stop in Philadelphia and changed planes. Then back to Charlotte, almost 6 hr. layover. Then back on Contour, stopped at Beckley, then home to MOV R A, I stopped for some food, and was home by 8 m.
The flight from Charlotte was interesting. I got one of their 1st class seats, maybe it was a prize for booking in March. We were all seated, and the attendant announced that the pilot wanted 3 people from the 1st 3 rows (3 seats across) to move to seats in the back because there was a balance problem (!). I asked if they wanted me to move, but they let me stay in front. At Beckley, the pilot announced we'd have to wait for up to 1/2 hour, because 'the brakes got hot when he landed (wth?) I think we were ahead of schedule, because we left about the time my original itenerary listed. As we appraoched Parkersburg (MOV) and the pilot said, "We haven't had good luck on this flight. There is a rogue thunderstorm right over the airport and we can't land. On the upside, we have lots and lots of gas!" I thought to myself that a pilot should never, ever start an announcement like that! Lol We flew around in big circles over the Ohio Valley and I took lots of pictures of the river and the clouds. We had a smooth flight, but unique in so many ways.

The uncle is doing a seriously great job with the interior. I guess his kids came over last week and they laid a wood floor covering. They've got the walls paneled, windows, doors hung. I don't know if it was pre-fab or a kit. I'll ask.
