Guest sued over negative Tripadvisor review of Thailand resort

Updated / Saturday, 26 Sep 2020 11:42

An American man has been sued by an island resort in Thailand over a negative Tripadvisor review, authorities have revealed.

He could face up to two years in prison if found guilty.

Domestic tourism is still happening in Thailand, where coronavirus numbers are relatively low.

Koh Chang island, famed for its sandy beaches and turquoise waters, is home to the Sea View Resort.

But a recent visit to the hotel landed Wesley Barnes in trouble after he wrote unflattering online reviews about his holiday.

get for insulting a member of the royal family. The prisons are pretty bad but prisoners are allowed visitors and can accept money and gifts.

They didn't even film it in Thailand, but in the Philippines, I suspect because the Thais wouldn't let them film it there because it's unflattering to Thailand. And then Claire Danes got banned from the Philippines for saying unflattering things about the Philippines. I don't know if Asians have thin skins, but there we are. About this fellow who's being sued, is he still there? If he's not still there, they couldn't touch him anyway, could they?

not only for this American tourist, but any other such tourists to avoid Thailand. The government tourism bureau needs to make this go away soon if they're worth their pay.

What is odd is that for the last case there is no known cause of death, she was found with little or no clothing (though not physically or sexually abused) and are in a location searched over, and over, then suddenly appeared in the open. Weird stuff.
