Buenos Aires chosen as Pacific Area Travel Writers Association "City of the Year"
Buenos Aires has been chosen as "City of the Year" by the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA).
The distinction was announced at the key industry trade fair ITB Berlin.
Receiving the award, Gonzalo Robredo, executive director of the Buenos Aires City Tourist Board, said: This award is recognition of the effort we're making to position Buenos Aires, and serves as a great motivation to continue along the same route we're taking."
The international PATWA prizes are awarded to individuals, organisations, cities and regions that stand out through their excellent work promotion tourism in the travel trade. The jury consists of members and directors of the association and by secret travellers. The criteria for selecting winners takes into account different promotional focuses including communication to tourism operators, travel agents, hotels, airlines, governmental bodies, and other areas related to the industry.
The PATWA awards have been run since 1999 and are delivered at the trade fairs ITB and WTM (World Travel Market) with the support of the World Tourism Organization.
