'Once defined by its rundown Communist-style housing blocks, uneven sidewalks and graffiti-laced storefronts, Pragues Vrsovice district has transformed into one of the capitals it neighborhoods. Over the last decade, stylish cafes, craft beer pubs and boutique retailers have moved in, tucked among its colorful rowhouses. With its popular biannual street festivals and vibrant night life, this former blue-collar neighborhood has now become something of a cultural melting pot with a breezy bohemian vibe, attracting an international crowd.'

SORRY they didn't mention any of the symphony halls, like this: https://www.classictic.com/en/special/municipal_house_prague/622/
Was VERY lucky to find a great concert, including this wonderful, home-grown piece, when we were there a few years ago:
This includes views of the city and river!

(32,059 posts)I was sick--GI type sick--the night before we left Salzburg.
It was all I could do to get on the train in the morning.
When we arrived at the small, family owned hotel in Prague, we told them I just wanted to go to the room.
The owner of the hotel sent someone out to bring me chicken soup. It was the best chicken soup
I've ever had. AND, they didn't charge us for it!
The next day the owner drove us up to the Castle/Cathedral and when we left he drove us to the train station.
If you're going to Prague, we highly recommend the Hotel Residence Agnes. http://www.residenceagnes.cz/

(92,754 posts)I walked the city for hours at a time. From the big name shops to the local flavor, and everything in between, all over I walked and always found something new to explore.
Great city, it really is.

(135 posts)Back in the nineties, returning from a conference in Russia, my wife and I visited (in order) Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Paris and London, enroute back home to California.
Prague took the prize: A street musician playing a Bach Prelude flawlessly on his classical guitar, the Mozart Requiem in a downtown church, St. Stephens Cathedral, a cruise on the Moldau.
Unforgettable!
