Looking for a good AR-15 semi-automatic (<$300)

Friend of mine has a custom-made AR-15 that he lets me target shoot with him. I absolutely love it. I'm damn good, I must say.

I don't have a ton of money to spend on it, but he was recommending a Mossberg. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

1. I didnt know they made one.

Before you know it there'll be Hamilton-Beach AR15's, Nissan AR15's, Lego AR15's...

2. They don't make AR-15's,

theirs is called a MMR, it looks somewhat like an AR. I just googled them, and found their website, prices seem to be around $950 new. It might be hard to find one for $300.

3. The only way you are going to get one at around that price.

Is to build it yourself. I can't build one for less than $500 and still use decent parts and barrel.

4. The mossberg (looks like an AR) is a 22lr.

For a 223/5.56 the cheapest you'll find are the DPMS's at wal-mart. I think for a few dollars less than 600 bucks.

5. If you don't have the extra cash right now

and are looking for a project you could buy a stripped lower and then slowly build one as you get the cash. You can get the lower for $100ish

6. $300 no way for an AR15 unless you find someone who needs quick cash

How about a used Ruger mini 14

sometimes you can find those in the $400 or $500 range

7. Build one

Palmetto State Armory has some pretty high quality and inexpensive lowers that are actually made by Aero Precision. Just stray away from their special edition kookery pieces.

They also sell assembled uppers. Plug and play.
