Any scooter riders here?

I've been contemplating buying a Vespa 300 GTX for awhile now.

Just wondering if there are any other scooter riders here.

1. I have 2 scooters

A Vespa Grande and a Suzuki express. Have not been riding lately but will again this spring.

2. I still have to go through and get a motorcycle license

And actually BUY a scooter.

I live only 5 miles from work and the university I'm going to start my MBA at next all is only a couple miles from my house the other direction. I'd just been thinking a scooter would totally make sense to drive around when the weather cooperates.

Any tips?

3. I am partial to large wheel scooters

and since mine are 1980 and 1984...obviously, I like vintage. IMO, large wheel scooters are more stable than those little wheels on lots of the newer ones.

Lots of good info and maybe riders in your area to hook up with.

If you get a 49cc you need less of a license in Texas.

5. Make sure the scooter has plenty of storage

for your raingear, lunch, computer, books, all the stuff you need for a day at work and at school.

And, post a picture of it when you buy it.

7. take a look at the Yamaha C3

I have had one for several years and love it.

Good storage - which I thik you would need going to school
Great gas mileage - I get well over 100 mpg
Good range
Easily goes 35-39 mph
49 cc - so no motorcycle license needed for Florida

and just plain fun

8. With a top speed of 39 mph, I think I'll get run over even within the city

Even going around the small distance between my house and school, I think I'd get pushed off the road.

6. here - I have a Yamaha C3 and Burgman super-scooter

Traded a Harley for the Burgman about 6 months back - and have never regreted it.

Great gas mileage - and just a lot of fun.

10. If you like the old style Vespas take a look at the Genuine Stella.

They are a Vespa up date made in India now with a new modern 4 stroke engine.

11. I just bought one

I have rode it one time so far but I am going to ride it again tomorrow I just now bought it late so it is cold and dark right now but I am thinking of taking it for a long distance ride just for the fun and experience I am doing some research right now though(:

12. In college in the 80s

they were all the rage with the kids whose parents would buy them. But I was in Madison, Wi where drivers were more courteous and used to the scooters and bike lanes. No way would I ride it here in Houston. If you are in a neighborhood and mostly on campus you might be ok.

Because of the good mileage, and I can use it to make short trips.
