I am not knee deep in any game at the moment. I have been playing a lot of Pinball Arcade lately and spending some time on Guacamelee (trying to finish it but it gets tough in spots).
I haven't played the new Batman: Arkham Knight but I have heard good things. Money is a little tight and I have a massive back catalog to get to, probably wait for a good price drop.
So, what is everyone else playing now?

(233 posts)I'm playing Battlefield 1942 almost every night, lol. I like to taunt the enemy by flying a b-17 upside down over their base at ground level. Sort of like counting coup.
I'm also two months into a game of Rome Total War. That game is gonna take forever to finish even one campaign.
My kids say I really need to play DOTA, so I reckon I'll be playing that soon.

(2,427 posts)How are the servers on 1942, still pretty active?
I never could get into the Total War games, I really don't know why. LoL and DOTA are huge now - I have a buddy that plays League of Legends exclusively. I tell him he needs to stretch his gaming legs more but apparently that game can get crazy addictive!
Cheers!

(233 posts)There's about 3-15 servers running with more than 10 players, depending on time and day. On Sat/Sun you'll find a couple servers maxing out at 64 players each. Plus variants like Desert Combat and Forgotten Hope. I'm not that good, though, because I can't find a left-handed joystick.
Have a sparkling day, good neighbor! Praise Jesus and pass the ammo!

(10,402 posts)Hey,
I am not sure how to get the DLC, I went to the website and didn't see anything about the DLC or at least how to get it. It is going okay, bit of a steep learning curve. Plus I am at such a low level I have a hard time killing much. I got trapped in one quest that I was not at a high enough level for and had to start at a previous save.
I did read something last night that said to complete all the activities in White Orchard to gain experience. Well, I was off in another part of the world doing all kinds of stuff that I was not ready for yet. I have now gone back to White Orchard and will complete all that I can there and then hopefully I will be stronger.
I am enjoying it though and I know I'll get better.

(2,427 posts)PS4 dlc is on the related items tab. Steam should have the related dlc tab on the information screen. I am unsure about the xbone. Yeah, clean up in white orchard and be sure to find as many places of power as you can. They help out a bunch. Think there are 4 or 5 in white orchard. Cheers!

(10,402 posts)I am getting better as I play. One of the best things about this game is the variety of attacks. One problem is sometimes the view gets screwy. Also, he seems to stay in battle stance when I want to run away. I have been killed so many times trying to run and he turns towards the attacker. However, fun game and am enjoying it morethe more I play. Do you remember what difficulty level you played at?

(188 posts)Although I still suck at it. There's a XKCD comic where the last line is "You will not go to space today", and that's pretty much my motto. However, I'm able to get to orbit more often then not, and no longer killing crews.
Last week i was starting to build a station, with Valentina, Jeb and Bob Kerman crewing it. Bob Kerman then launches with a power and communication truss to dock to it. Due to a staging error (i.e. I'm an idiot) Bob gets stranded. Normally that's no problem, except that I'm playing with a life support mod. Oh, and all your O2 is in the half of the ship that is drifting away. Jeb and Bob get into the ship connected to the station and I perform a super aggressive burn and match orbits and Bob does an EVA to the rescue ship. My wife was wondering why i was strutting around the house that evening...

(188 posts)Go to youtube and watch some of the clips there. Highly recommend Scott Manley's stuff - he does excellent tutorials. You can also go to the official webpage and download a demo. I bought a license for an 11 year old nephew, and promptly ruined him. Now when he calls, it's all Apoapsis this and Delta-V that. Last time I was over he grabbed me by the arm and pulled me into the yard because there was a visible pass of the space station. My work there is done...

(994 posts)It reminds me a bit of Knights of the Old Republic but in a fantasy world instead of sci fi universe.
I think I just finished the first chapter in the story and I'm not sure what to expect next but the characters are great and it's a good looking game. Huge world with lots to do.
I'm a female mage and I've flirted with everybody but nobody is flirting back! The Templar dude shot me down last night when I came right out and asked him if he'd like to get closer. Cassandra gave me the cold shoulder too.
Usually start fights casting dispel and then an AoE fire attack. I like how it keeps you on your toes having to cast barrier on your tank. I use two mages in the party to keep barrier up as much as possible. Rogues hit for lots of damage but need to heal all the time.
I might play this until the big titles start dropping this fall. Not sure if you noticed but XCOM 2 got delayed until early next year.

(20,176 posts)It's an episodic choice-driven dramatic game set in an Oregon private school and the surrounding small town. It's published by Square Enix and was developed by indie studio Dontnod.
It's really amazing and cinematic, the decisions you make are both heart-rending and have real ongoing consequences while the concept is both fresh and interesting. You play as an 18 year old girl who discovers that she can rewind time by a few minutes (approximately 3) when she inadvertently witnesses a murder in the women's bathroom. From there, she stumbles into an investigation of the disappearance of a classmate that disappeared right before she arrived at the school who may have been the victim of a sexual sadist and serial killer operating with impunity in their midst, insinuates herself into a secret society, tries to save everybody and nearly brings about the end of the world as a consequence. (And who knows what's next...there's one more episode this season yet to be released.)
I truly love this game, it has a weird interactive Donnie Darko vibe to it--it hooks you early in the plot and never lets go or slows down.

(10,402 posts)This game gets better the deeper you get into it. I like that there are so many variations of attacks. I'm cleaning up some lower level quests and contracts before doing the next main quest. You can make this game as simple or as complex as you want. Out of the few PS4 RPGs I have played, this one has by far the most variations in character builds. The signs are pretty darn fun to use and some of the more graphical killings are pretty nifty too. I still feel like I'm not utilizing half the abilities that I probably could be.
I think these video games are some of the best entertainment value around for me. This one is huge.

it's still in beta and update 14 should be released any day now.
what's interesting about the game is that on days divisible by 7 ie: 7,14,21,28, etc a horde invasion hits you or your home base that you have built.
also, if you are running a high heat signature; fireplaces, forges, and the like, you will get hit with smaller hordes in between those days.
what I finds interesting and fun is the lengths I go to to build a base that will defend the horde.
Oh and as the days progress, the hordes get larger and more varied.

(10,857 posts)KSP was already one of the finest games I've ever played, despite the fact that it is bug-ridden rocket science and early on it didn't even have a tutorial.
But now most of the bugs are fixed and some of the infuriating annoyances, like incurable ship-wobble, have been rectified. Rigid attachment and autostrutting saves dozens of parts per build, making bigger ships possible. Being able to visualize fuel flow and set flow priority takes things to a whole new level. Creating communications networks is way more interesting than it sounds (I finally have a use for those drifting second stages: put a communications relay on it and it's a Molniya orbit station!). Even the fonts are better vectored, so they're easier to read. The ginormous modding community is cranking out updated files every hour, and hundreds are already up to date. If I ever get tired of the miniature Kerbal solar system, there's the incredibly difficult Real Solar System mod.
Getting from 0.90 to 1.2 took about two years and was exceedingly painful, with the latest game build often being totally broken for days at a time. Now, the exploited and overworked space-nerd half the dev team has left, leaving behind the console-programmers and marketers to carry on. So this could be the apoapsis of Kerbal Space Program's ballistic trajectory.
If you get it, be sure to copy a version of this week's build to something other than your Steam folder, so you can come back to the one that actually works when they break it and don't know how to fix it.
This update is currently PC only, and their success with the console versions has been... very Kerbal, which is not a compliment. But if you have a hot PC, want to better understand the fundamentals of physics, aerodynamics, and orbital mechanics, and have hundreds of hours of your life to lose to nail-biting reentry attempts and low-fuel landings, this version of Kerbal Space Program has no equal and may never be exceeded.
(Edit: What are the finest games I've ever played? A short list would surely include:
FTL
Homeworld
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
Fallout 4
Rome: Total War (not the fiasco remake)

(29,349 posts)I've been doing a season on Madden 25 then draft the players into the Madden game but the Madden season lasts too long especially with all the players upgrades. I play on the All Madden and Heisman level difficultly.
I just finished the 2026 Rose Bowl in my first year with Arizona State. I played using JeffDLowe rosters which come with a lot of 99 players like Usain Bolt for Oregon. 1 star Texas State comes with 3 on offense so I started with them as offensive coordinator for 2 years moved onto a head coaching job to UAB with 99 qb Q McClarin and 99 wr Joe Washington. Then went to South Carolina after Steve Spurrier retired for 3 years. Left for Colorado State for 5 seasons. I turned them from a 1 star school to a 6 star school. Took over a 2 star Arizona State because I hated seeing them lose.
I also do promotion/relegation with the American/Conference USA/Sun Belt so the winner of the Sun Belt replaces the worst team in Conference USA, the winner of Conference USA moves into the BCS American.
I also have BYU and Miami(OH) (who always win their division and have 1 national championship) in the Big 12 North.
Navy is a power school who has won 2 straight national championships. I have never won the National Championship (losing games in the MWC doesn't help your cause) but I have won 4 BCS bowls, 2 of them with Colorado State and 1 with Texas State. My two years with Texas State I won the Sun Belt then the Conference USA Championship against UAB which was the only team I lost to in the regular season and who I would coach next season, won a BCS Bowl against Ohio State. Texas State is still in the American conference which they avoided being the worst team in conference all these years.
I started over on both games because I was sick of the 99 players so I looked for new rosters found a good one in Volsfan14 (would have to double check for accurate gamer ID). The rosters are close enough to real life but not perfect but makes for a better more challenging game. So far I haven't won a national championship or Super Bowl and I'm going on the year 2020 from 2013. On Madden my QB is Cyler Miles (who took nick Montana's job at Washington), Deanthony Thomas as my starting RB. I had Devonta Freeman as a backup for a season than the following year after that I had Derrick Henry who I traded than the season after that Ezekiel Elliot was my backup running back (the thing about drafter nCAA 14 players into Madden 25 is running backs are pretty much never drafted in the first round and I got most of these running backs in the 4th or 5th round and Devonta Freeman was actually a free agent that I developed into a respectable starter). Pretty much anyone can turn out to be a good player as long as you develop them.
I did 6 seasons at Arizona State and after my starting QB was drafted #1 overall and my backup QB drafted #2 overall I went to northern Illinois because I like their uniforms plus I want to build something there. Usually I start out as a 1 star coordinator and work my way up but I started over from 2013 a few times due to bad rosters but this current version is the best I've had. I stopped doing that relegation thing and I just stuck all the members in their current 2017 conferences and left them there. It works better seeing teams building in their own conferences. Teams like Army, navy, and Air Force always turn out good for some reason. #3 Army beat Stanford 32-28 in the 2019 Rose Bowl for example.
On edit -- my Madden receivers are Jaron Brown, Timmons (the nCAA leading receiver in my game for pass happy Kentucky -- I think he was a fictional prospect), Odell Beckham (for a couple seasons I also had Stefon Diggs).

(20,599 posts)[IMG][/IMG]
This game is available on Steam and on the Gear VR store. It can be played on a traditional computer or by using VR goggles.
This game is for two or more players, and cannot be player properly by one person alone.
THE PREMISE
One player has a computer or the VR goggles. They also have a bomb that needs defusing. The bomb has several modules on it. Each module must be properly defused. Defusing all modules on a bomb defuses the bomb. Get three strikes and.... BOOM.
[IMG][/IMG]
The other player has a Bomb Defusing Manual. In this each possible module on any given bomb is described, along with instructions on how to defuse the module. Each module is different, and has varying instructions.
Below are the instructions for the "complicated wires" module:
[IMG][/IMG]
Neither player can see what the other player has, so teamwork and good communication skills are required to defuse a bomb. Some nodules require the player with the bomb to read the serial number, describe symbols, and count the bomb's batteries; other modules require the player with the manual to read a Venn diagram, find a word in Morse code, or help with a game of Simon Says.
Five minutes is all you get.
You'll need more.
