Related: About this forumWith the next gen now beginning, what games defined the current gen (360/PS3) for you?
What games did you enjoy the most or spend the most hours playing?
For me, it was probably Fallout 3, Red Dead Redemption and Borderlands 1 & 2.

(59,305 posts)I have at least 700hrs into Skyrim, and a lot of time into Arkham City. I like both games a lot, but give the slight edge to Arkham City as my favorite PS3 title.

(994 posts)I've heard both are great games.

(59,305 posts)I've been debating this post of mine for awhile and I have changed my mind. I think the Batman games are great, no doubt about that, the fighting style, the usage of weapons, upgrades and the game totally feeds my Comic geekiness but Skyrim on the other hand matches that in spades.
The only thing I dislike about Skyrim is the glitches/freezes, which were very minimal until I got the Legendary Pack a few months ago. I didn't think I"d like Skyrim because I downright hated Oblivion(glitch heaven).
But, I have changed my vote to Skyrim....
Vashta Nerada
(3,922 posts)I've put hundreds of hours into it.
I'm excited to see what The Elders Scrolls will look like on the next gen consoles!

(59,305 posts)The Elder Scrolls Online, if that was a launch title I'd have a ps4 right now.

(994 posts)Great game but I did so much level grinding and side questing that I never got around to finishing the main quest. Thanks for reminding me to go back and finish it.

(3,922 posts)Just an FWI.
Legendary dragons are harder to defeat than Alduin.

(16,184 posts)I was close to level 30 before I even visited the Graybeards.

(994 posts)pretty much invincible and could one or two hit kill just about everything. I really do need to go back and finish that character and then download the patches so I can play it legit.
It was even worse with the level grinding in Oblivion with all those minor skills you could level up without leveling up your main skills. I think I finished the main quest like four years after I started!

(12,041 posts)There were a lot of excellent games this generation but those are all series that I know I will still be looking back on years in the future.

(16,184 posts)I'd add Heavy Rain as well.

(4,717 posts)The current generation was little more than episode after episode of realism intensive FPS stalwarts. I used to play quite a lot of FPS games back in the heady days of Dooms and Quakes, I think I've got all I can from that experience. It's probably why I play the Wii more than any other console, generally. I'll take the next episode of a Metroid over the latest Call of Duty. I think the reason why the current gen has left me rather unimpressed is the devotion to online play and the second-rating of the single player experience. I know that good AIs are tough to write, and good single player experiences require a bit more planning and creativity, but have we really given up trying?
GTA V's single-player mode has given me hope. With the humor restored to something resembling the GTA III series tongue in cheek satire (GTA IV was so dour and serious it was sad), and a bit more of the old mischievious fun through easter eggs and oddball things to discover, as well as the most expansive map to date, it has, along with Skyrim, saved the current generation from posting up a near perfect triumph of realism over just plain fun.

(994 posts)I play games to escape from this world, not to interact with other people.
Whisp
(24,096 posts)The most beautiful game I've ever seen.
