Looking over at Bluesnews today and I see this one line item:
"The Firefly Universe Online Facebook Page has word that this MMOG based on the cult sci-fi series has resumed development with the blessings of Fox Entertainment. They say to expect a Kickstarter campaign to support the project. Thanks Massively."

It also has a link to this page:

WTF? I have no idea who is doing the design, programming or this up-coming kickstarter but... I want to know more...
Yes please... I want to be a browncoat and have my own ship and crew
Edit: The above is my original post, I've change the title to have include Jeff47's news (see post #6) that this is a hoax.

(62,493 posts)Iain Banks even gave his blessing to do it.
(Iain Banks is an author of a series of novels oriented around The Culture and this really fantastic universe in which transhumans control the galaxy for the most part.)
Sadly, having been involved in game development, I think this will just continue the heartbreak that Firefly fans have constantly have had to deal with.

(6,256 posts)I haven't watched Firefly yet, but there is no way it can top Buffy The Vampire Slayer on my list. It is by far my favorite TV show ever.

(2,693 posts)It is hard as heck to make any game that will appeal to a cult following. I am a huge firefly fan btw, likely it will soak up money then fold.
Now to do it right, bring back the game mechanics of freelancer...well...then..does it really matter?
black prophecy came close, almost had it...but then *pbhrbbt* (was still one of the best betas of a game that never happened, it was my privilege to play!)

(21,894 posts)I spent about two hours last night trying to figure out 'who' was going to be doing this. The name of a company was out there but not a single name attached to it.
A shame though... In the right hands something really awesome could be created.
Thanks for the heads up
