Bear Bryant in wins.
Sure it's substantiated of course, but just doesn't seem likely on the surface

(24,149 posts)It was hard to watch, but truly what i expected after last year. I hope to see improvement on both his and the wr's parts, they have to do much better and so does he.

(8,504 posts)I'm surrounded by Gator/Seminole fans (Go Canes!) and last week's chatter had both teams potential national champs. I root for the Florida teams all season but haven't had the superiority swagger that used to accompany living in the breeding grounds of the best players/teams in the country. The Gator fans/boosters don't have the patience to "rebuild" after a 7 win season. My guess is their coach will be gone by game 9. Seminoles- "rebuild" is Jimbo's legacy after "free seafood university" ruined FSU as recruitment nirvana. Miami - NIL money is alive and well. We'll see how the season goes...

(24,149 posts)I was always very unsure of Napier, but now he gets to show what he's made of. If he a good coach, can he get the WR's and AR on the same page and can AR ever be accurate? Oh, and Coach Napier - what the hell happened to FL run game? WTF? I hope Napier can earn his job.

(8,504 posts)We are going to long for the "good old days" unless our favorite teams/schools join a big money conference AND embrace NIL cash flowing to 18yo five-star athletes. The "portal" took away good bench players waiting their turn (depth) and scholastic requirements being lowered or eliminated took away the myth that these kids are expected to be "students". TV money is in charge and probably can't be taken away. The thing that made college football unique was playing for the love of the game. That's fucking history.

(5,362 posts)Bryant coached at Maryland, Kentucky, and (I think - not as sure about this one) Texas A&M before taking the Alabama job. It was sort of a cool trivia question/answer that he was Kentucky's all-time wins leader, but records, made, broken, all that.
