Unusually quiet in recent weeks, the New York Jets shattered the calm Wednesday by completing a trade for polarizing quarterback Tim Tebow.
The Jets sent two picks -- a fourth-rounder and sixth-rounder in 2012 -- to the Denver Broncos in exchange for a seventh-round selection.
The Jets see Tebow as a change-of-pace player with the ability to run the wildcat offense. They've used the wildcat in recent years, but cut back last season with the departure of Brad Smith. The new offensive coordinator is Tony Sparano, who introduced the wildcat to the NFL as coach of the Miami Dolphins.
Coach Rex Ryan also wants the Jets to get back to being a power-running team, but they have only one proven back, Shonn Greene. The 6-foot-3, 238-pound Tebow rushed for 660 yards last season, including a 20-yard touchdown in the final minute to beat the Jets, 17-14, in a November game at Denver.

(22,488 posts)Whether or not Tebow actually comes to NYC as a NY Jet, the Jets have piddled their pants BIG TIME over this farce.
NYC would Eat.Tebow.Alive. Swallow him whole.

(82 posts)I have always found it odd that Tebow is hated more than QBs who rape woman and QBs who murder dogs. Is he a bit too vocal about his faith, yes; does that make him a bad man, no; is that a crime, no; so why do we give QBs like Vick awards for courage, while hating Tebow :-/.

(10,893 posts)I'm sick of Tebow because he's been getting a mother load of media coverage, even though he's not that good stat-wise as a QB. His completion percentage has been below 50% in most games, and it seems like he's hogging all the spotlight in winning games for Denver, when much of the credit should've went to their Defense. And besides, Vick already spent his time in prison and has been doing work for animal rights groups. He already has been torn apart by the media. What else is there to do with him?

(82 posts)Considering torturing animals is a sign of a future serial killer... I feel the same way about Vick and would fear for both my dog and my own life. Personally I could care less about Tebow, but why do people hate him so much for being religious when they love rapists and sociopaths.

(4 posts)It will be interesting to see how the Jets integrate Tebow into the mix. I really like both Sanchez and Tebow. They both aren't the best quarterbacks, but they have a lot of passion for the game which is nice to see. I think bringing Tebow on, however, will put a lot of pressure on Sanchez and I am not sure how he will handle it.
