Related: About this forumAny thoughts on the upcoming free agency deals/changes?
Lots of movement at the QB position across the league, it looks like, with Peyton Manning visiting potential teams, and reportedly wanting to sign before Tuesday...
The Redskins and Jets out of the Manning hunt, having elected to go with Robert Griffin III (I expect that Andrew Luck will go to the Colts and this is assuming the reported deal with the Rams goes through) and Mark Sanchez, respectively.
After Manning, Matt Flynn will be the next highly sought QB free agent, it seems...several teams will be looking at him once Manning is gone...
And a number of QBs who are former starters who will either be looking for a spot with one of the teams that misses out on both Manning and Flynn, or will have to settle for a backup role somewhere (like Chicago, who desperately needs a solid backup).
And lots of non-QB free agents out there, too, Mario Williams, Vincent Jackson, Marques Colston, etc.

(4,851 posts)If Manning goes to Arizona, Kolb will be available for someone.

(4,833 posts)and if Manning doesn't make his decision before the Cards are due to pay Kolb his bonus on Thursday, what do the Cards do then?
Do they pay Kolb, stick with him, and basically give up on Manning?
Not pay Kolb in the hopes that Manning chooses them, but risking having to find someone else on short notice?
Not pay Kolb and figure that they can get someone either in the draft or one of the other QBs out there, Campbell, Orton, etc. as a stop-gap if Manning doesn't pick them?
Or pay Kolb, and still pursue Manning, either paying both, or figuring they can trade Kolb? I can't see anyone giving them anything like what they paid for him.

(4,851 posts)They can not pay him $7M plus his salary this season. Cut him and move on.

(4,833 posts)and according to Mike Sando on ESPN, the Cards have less than 24 hours to make that decision...be nice if Manning would make a decision by then, or at least let the Cards know if they're in serious contention for his services.

(29,349 posts)I think Tennessee probably leads. Aside from all the talk about being in Tennessee is something his family would be happy about, it gives him two cracks at the Colts a year.

(4,833 posts)and it could be because that's the way it is.
I'm not going to assume anything, though, because the unexpected happens a lot in football.
Can't say TN is where I want him to end up, either, so it could be a bit of wishful thinking on my part.
Seems to me he might want to seriously consider Denver, as they made it to the playoffs with QB play well below what he's capable of, and he could get them deep in the playoffs every year he has left.
Not sure if TN is quite there.
In the end, really depends on what he wants. TN is also apparently offering him a job post-playing days, if he wants a front-office job. But, that may not be for everyone.

(4,833 posts)They've already grabbed Brandon Marshall in a trade with the Dolphins and Jason Campbell as a solid backup to Jay Cutler.
Vincent Jackson has also just signed with the Bucs, Pierre Garcon and Eddie Royal with the Redskins.
Williams, Flynn and Manning are still out there, with Manning scheduled to meet with the Titans Wednesday. I'm kind of expecting Manning will make his choice sometime Thursday, but we'll see.
