Impostor tries to practice with the Steelers
A Steelers' fan dressed in yellow football pants, a yellow jersey and a helmet made it past security Saturday afternoon and attempted to take part in some drills at the beginning of Steelers practice.
The fan, whose name is not known, was seen being escorted off the Saint Vincent College campus shortly before 4 p.m. The Steelers are not commenting on the incident and coach Mike Tomlin declined to answer a question about it during his post-practice news conference.
The Steelers opened practice on the artificial surface field at Saint Vincent College, which is near their three grass practice fields. When the Steelers are forced to the artificial surface field the Steelers allow fans to watch from behind fences around the field and along a road that runs through campus.
It is not known how the fan made it past security, but real Steelers players quickly noticed the impostor who wore a jersey that had little resemblance to the practice jerseys the Steelers wear. It also didnt help matters that the jersey had No. 43 emblazoned across the front of it. The Steelers havent issued Troy Polamalus old number since he retired following the 2014 season.
