I watched the Hall of Fame game last night 8/2/18

Chicago and Baltimore.

I like football but am not real educated on the sport.
I wish the guys (announcers ? sportscasters ?) would spend more time talking about what's happening on the field;
the game that's being televised.

Do some 'play action' talk about why a play worked or didn't; etc.

But last night, and more and more each season, they take us wandering down 'memory lane';
talking about coaches, players, games from the past, which team sells the best hot dogs ...
and trying to impress us with their encyclopedic knowledge of football trivia.

And, being the Hall of Fame game, they cut away from the live action numerous times for interviews with players
who I guess were being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

It was if the game itself was just filler between all the talk (little of which was about the game being televised).

In my humble opinion.

1. they tend to do that when there is no drama in the game

and it's worse in the pre-season because then they will spend hours talking about rule changes and new team members (who may not even be playing), etc.

2. This is why I don't watch preseason football.

Not that it would be worth watching anyway, with none of the first team on the field, but the talking heads use the game as a visual background for babbling about trivia.

3. During the regular season

I really like Tony Romo doing color, he has taught me alot. My favorite was Keith Jackson doing college games Whoa Nelly!

4. Romo is far better than Phil Simms

5. I hate a man who whines.

Simms is a big whiner.
