If any team could screw the draft with two of the top four picks it was the Cleveland Browns

Unfuckingbelievable that they could screw this one up but they found a way to do it. I guess we should have had a clue Dorsey was a moron when he kept a coach who won a single game in two years.

In the measurables Mayfiled was No. 1 in most categories. He would have been taken first by the Jets and Bronchos. That many GMs know what they are doing. Both he and Ward are shorter than wanted but both players are difference makers.

You found the one article where the author liked Mayfield. He has character issues. He kept a list of writers and commentators who he thinks didn't properly praise him. He skipped the draft to sell himself and wouldn't let EPSN cover him because they dared say he had character issues. Big 12 QB's have under performed for the last 10 years or so. There are many red flags.

Passing up Chubb was another bad move.

You say I listed one article. You listed none. He doesn't have character issues. He was considered a great team leader by his coaches and teammates. You obviously hate him and let that color your judgment. As I wrote, the Jets at 3 and Bronchos at five were going to take him. So that's three teams that would have taken him in the top five. They know more than you do. Numerous commentators and analysts liked him. I could list the but it wouldn't do any good. Rant away. People have underestimated him the past. He always proves them wrong.

I'll edit to add another article with all kinds of analytics favoring Mayfield:

As for character issues I don't recall there is a video of Sam Darnold getting chased down by the cops.

The Browns thought they knew better than everyone else when they picked Johnny Manziel. I don't know whether Mayfield is another Manziel but the fact is they could have gotten him by trading down since other teams wanted Darnold first. Likewise they screwed it up by picking a CB over a prime DE at 4. Not as big a fuck up as picking Mayfield but almost everyone ranked Chubb ahead of Denzel Ward.

Time will tell but my money is on the Browns screwing the pooch once more.

Of all the talent available (I'd have gone with Rosen or Darnold) they picked the guy that there's tape of drunk running from cops. Not a devotee but channeling Cowherd a bit here.

They could have had Rosen/Darnold and Chubb OR either of the O-line guys from Notre Dame.

CB's perform at the top of their game for a max of 5 years.

Most people had Chubb ranked as the first or second best player overall. When a DE ranked that high is still on the board at 4th you take him and move on.

I think Chubb, the RB from GA was a steal where they got him. The OT from Nevada sounds like a solid pick. In round 4 they just chose a WR from Florida who was suspended all year for disciplinary reasons. According to Mike Mayock, whom I respect a lot, a lot of teams had him off their boards. You'd think they'd have learned something from Josh Gordon. So that's another player they could have probably gotten lower but at pick 105 I won't criticize them too much for taking a gamble. (BTW they traded up to get him too.)
