It seems weird at first but will seem normal very quickly.
It actually turns it into a real play instead of the near automatic touchback that it had become.

(14,558 posts)2. I know there's a new rule to encourage runbacks, I don't know what the rule is.
But, I think the game is more exciting with kickoffs being run back.

Receiving team start at the 30 yard line. Its only five yards from last year and the return rule will allow runs to that and probably more. If the NFL wants returns touchbacks will need to get placed at the forty or forty five to make a return worth the risk for the kicking team.

But safer
players seem to be getting used to it, so I am okay with it.
