Related: About this forumPhantom hummingbord???
I keep my feeders up late, I had a hummer show up on a chilly November day about five years ago so now I leave my feeders out late.
I haven't seen a hummer since October but something is feeding from the feeders. Maybe Woodpeckers?
One night I thought I saw a light colored blur fly up to a feeder and spend a few seconds before flying off.
When I was in Arizona I saw a moth that mimicked a hummingbird so well I took it for one until I got closer at about 4:00AM.
I'll keep filling them until they get enough, but I am curious about what I am feeding.

(6,150 posts)1. That was hummingbird hawk mouth. They are out in the evening and drink from flowers the same way
hummingbirds do.

(70,107 posts)3. We do get finches (house finches) nesting, so maybe so! They are the bravest little birds and they are not afraid of me.
