Iris, whose webcam has 20,000+ followers, has hatched chicks for the first time in five years. She's one of the worlds oldest known osprey, age 28, despite feeding from a giant superfund site.

Thank you for posting this story about Iris!

She is an amazing bird! We have watched Iris on the Hellgate cam for years and it has been a great joy to see her this year with Finn and the chicks.

The wild creatures have hard lives. But each moment they get to do their osprey things - return to the nest after migrating across hemispheres and continents, bring sticks to repair the nest for a new season, catch fish, brood the eggs, care for their families - each of those moments is something to be happy about and savor.
