in woodsy places of southern MI, but thats far fewer than usual. Used to hear them nearly every outing in the woods here. But I dont get outside nearly as often as I used to

I hope this is a case like in the past where you have a bad season for a certain species and then they find a way to regroup. I dearly love the sound of the wood thrushes.
