Raven caused a ruckus at neighbor's party

I was sitting on the back deck yesterday afternoon when a hue and cry came from one of the neighboring back yards. Some neighbors had been partying for hours, but this wasn't the sound of ordinary frivolity. Milliseconds later a large bird landed in the crown of another neighbor's Norway spruce. At first, I thought it was a vulture. I pointed my lens at the crown and waited for the bird to emerge. When the raven finally flew, biscuit in beak, I knew what all the ruckus was about. That's one brazen raven!

the tables at the pool cabana and browse for food. Had my small pool key on a fob laying on the table. Prayed the crow didn’t snag it and fly off! Love birds

ravens are huge and I'd imagine they're quite intimidating when up close and personal.

a Canon EOS Rebel T5i. Most of the time it's mounted with a used Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG Contemporary, which I bought last month. The Sigma is cumbersome but worth lugging around. My other main lens is a used Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6.

I've been thinking about getting another digital camera. Years ago I had a decent Minolta 35mm, and used it a lot for race pics when I was an amateur stringer for a regional running magazine.

I see this Canon is pretty highly rated. New ones are pretty pricey (for me anyway,) but used ones on ebay seem reasonable. Is that advisable?

Cell phone just doesn't cut it!.

I used a Minolta X-7A 35mm SLR during most of my years in community journalism as an editor/reporter/column writer/paginator/photographer (did everything but run the presses).

My T5i was my daughter's for 10 years until she handed it down to me last year. Before that, my camera was a Canon Rebel T3. I'm satisfied with the T5i and might buy another used one to avoid changing lenses. Most new camera gear is way too pricey for me. My main lenses are used and work well.

My son gave me his used iPhone 12 last year (I love getting the hand-me-downs!). It has a pretty decent camera, but there are many things it can't do well.

I hope you can find an affordable used camera and get back into shooting!
