I need new tires for my old three-speed "errand" bike (with a big handlebar basket). But tire sizes are confusing. My old bike uses 26 x 1 3/8 tires, and I see some nice 26 x 1.4 tires with reflective sidewall and a decent price. Are these sizes interchangeable?
Thanks much.

(26,366 posts)You need 26 x 1 3/8 tires.
Please see this complete sizing guide for more info: http://sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html
Some example tires:

Note under the new ISO system the tire you are looking for would be called size 37-590.
