Bicycling
Related: About this forumJust watched the 8th stage of Le Tour.
This was an exciting stage. I don't get to see much of bicycle racing as I don't have cable and internet without draconian data caps. I got to watch Wednesday's stage at a friends house which was a real treat, but today, just WOW! This was suppose to be a warmup for stage 9, but some riders had a different idea. Quickly the peloton broke into 2 with a 3+ minute gap. From that group another breakaway. Going up the Montée de la Combe de Laisia les Molunes one young rider overcame cramps in his right leg to maintain a gap of 36 seconds to win the stage. That's enough spoilers if you haven't watched it yet.

(2,615 posts)hard to catch a breakaway while climbing.
Without Sagan/Cavendish, the sprint finishes are lot more interesting.
I'm thinking Chris Froome will win it all again but nothing is certain with 13 more stages to go.
I invested in the NBC sports gold package and can stream it live on Amazon Fire and then watch reruns on NBCSN. The deal also allows me to watch all the major races for a full year.

(12,280 posts)How much is the package?
The River
(2,615 posts)for what you get. About a 1 buck per event....$39.99.
I'm guessing unlimited cable/satellite would be a lot more.

(12,280 posts)The price for more data goes up exponential. My friends in town get great speeds and data for less than what I pay. It's what I get for living in a rural area, that and red-necked tRump voters.

I just read the wiki on Froome because of his short interview. I couldn't place his accent. Now I've gotten my wish without knowing it, I want to see Kenyans in the Grand Tours. Well Froome was born in Kenya so I guess that counts. I just think some of those standout long distance runners could do well if they got some early quality bike time.

(6,322 posts)It has been an interesting Tour so far, and they are just getting to the mountains.
BTW happened to be near the top of the main climb at the US Cycling Pro championship a couple weeks ago in Knoxville.
