Giants rally past Pirates 7-5, snap 6-game skid
They have lost 29 of their past 45 games and their ballpark has become the Amityville Horror house, with home fans forced to endure every abomination short of blood shooting from the walls in one bad homestand after another.
The Giants might be the most downtrodden trade-deadline buyers in recent memory, but buyers they are.
After the Giants beat Pittsburgh 7-5 on Wednesday to prevent San Francisco's first winless homestand of at least six games, they flew to New York to start a 10-game trip in a place that brings them comfort: It's called Anywhere But AT&T Park.
Meanwhile, general manager Brian Sabean and company continued to search for help at second base or in the outfield ahead of Thursday's 1 p.m. deadline to trade players without first exposing them to waivers.
They have asked about every breathing second baseman, including the Cubs' Emilio Bonifacio (who appears headed elsewhere) and the Rays' Ben Zobrist (who can play outfield, too), Gordon Beckham of the White Sox and Cleveland's Asdrubal Cabrera.
