Do the numbers just serendipitously jump out at you, or do you just dig deep into the almanacs with an idea in mind?

2. I find them in deep dive lists in almanacs.

3. Sometimes when I'm bored

I pick a player, say, Albert Pujols, and look at his Wikipedia write up. They will list what records the guy holds. Then those make fun trivia questions, too.

OK here’s one I just came up with using that method....

Q: Who is the only player in MLB history to win a batting title in three different decades?

A: George Brett

5. Cobb would have won titles in three decades if not for George Sisler.

In 1922 Cobb hit .401, but Sisler hit .420. Impossible to imagine someone hitting .400 today and NOT winning the batting title. It’s been 80 years since anyone hit .400.
