We got to do this if class finished day's assignment

I recall it always being Dodgers vs Yankees (same teacher for 3 yrs)

I t was OK, so there was much support for Mickey Mantle and Yankees

Also some anti Dodger because they hired Jackie Robinson

1. We got to listen to the games in class.

I was one of only two Dodger fans in my class. It was a small class (less than 15) in a small town.


I grew up in deep red country and myself and the other Dodger fan grew up to be Democrats. The Yankee fans were/are Republicans. I learned then that Democrats pick the hopeful underdogs and the Republicans just had a deep need to be on the winning side no matter what.

2. I remember in HS Glee Club

one of us girls was the sister of the starting pitcher, Jimmy O'Toole. No singing that day, we got to listen to the game instead!
