Cardinals vs. Braves and infield fly call

Anybody see it? What did you think? I thought it was a bogus call, but I'm a Braves fan.

1. Well U see what my allegience is, but that call

was umpire decision. I would have been ticked too, but not enough to throw stuff onto the field. The Braves 2 run homer I heard was not liked by Cards fans because of sometype of delayed time out? I didnt see it.
Braves had a long way to climb out of the hole the dug for themselves, 3 errors, interference call, I knew this 1 game deal would be tough. But the Comish wants more revenue for some reason.
Oh and CHipper was out at 1st in the 9th.

2. The fans sucked

And Chipper was out. The Braves threw like little leaguers for a few innings. St. Louis won convincingly and congrats! The Cards have always been my second favorite National League team, and I'm rooting for them the rest of the way.

Still, viewed in isolation, the infield fly call was bad. Your shortstop was heading back toward the infield (and not "camped under" the ball) as the outfield ump signaled the infield fly rule. The call was way too late.

3. I know this is an old thread...

It didn't make a difference in the game--maybe run from the walk. There is also an argument to be made that had Holliday not seen the out called, he would have continued running in for backup and would have handled it. What cost the Braves more than anything was the fan-caused delay which did more to shut the Braves down than Mott coming in to finish the 8th and the game.

Time-out granted on a swinging strike three followed by a 2-run home run was a much worse call.


The umpiring of the post season (at least in the NL games I have watched) has sucked tremendously.
