As a Giants fan, I congratulate the Cubs.

They've earned it.

That was an epic comeback. One for the ages.

(on another note...I just hope that nightmare of a ninth inning finally gives Bochy the ammunition he needs to get the front office to spend the money on a decent bullpen).

And yes, the S.F. bullpen shoulders much of the responsibility for the Giants' exit. The Cubbies went out and got Chapman and it's paying off (even if he's pretty sketchy off the field).

First thing tomorrow morning, the Giants should release the entire bullpen and start over. All of them. There is no possible way that any of them could ever improve in any future season.

And I'll root for the Cubs, with a somewhat heavy heart, against whoever wins the other NLDS matchup(I definitely want to see four "W"s in that series if they end up playing the Dodgers). After this playoff, they deserve to finally win the damn pennant. If they do, the Cubs management should make the first Series game played at Wrigley "Goat Day"...bring in a goat in a case, offer an apology for any living descendants of Billy Sianis for ever making him and his goat leave that game against the Tigers, get somebody from the Roma community to officially lift the curst, and have a contest for "best goat costume" among the fans. I'm a little surprised that the Cubs owners haven't ever admitted the goat ban was wrong after all the grief it has caused them.

This is the baseball group but most of the posts about the MLB playoffs are in the general "sports" group.

It's always full of football and basketball posts, even though they have their own groups.

When the Cubs beat the Cards in the NLDS last year I could not bring myself to type out a congratulations post...

I tried but F-bombs kept creeping into the thing.

But, thanks for the sentiment sir. In the general sports group, i posted that i feed bad for the Giants fans because that's a pretty good team and one inning ended the season. That's a drag.

The exciting piece was the huge charge the Giants made in Game 3 only to see the other team do it too, the very next game.

I guess that is why we watch!

You're right...that IS why we watch.

The only thing I can compare it to in the postseason was Game 6 of the 1976 (Reds v. Red Sox) series, which had a very similar dynamic.
